We do a lot of trap fishing.

We used to build boxes of 1x1x50 inch Cypress spaced 1 inch apart with gates on each end made by sharpening some short sticks and making them come to a small cone facing into the box bait it and leave it a few days drag them in.

I don't think many people even know how to build traps now.

Here's a round one the ones we build are square to sit on the bottom solidly and not roll with the eddy.
