I won't own a GM product - never had any good luck with them. Fords have always been easy and Chryslers are OK but expensive.
 
I won't hold it against you for liking Chevy cars. As long as a vehicle works for the owner they should stay with it. If you see me, it will likely be in a Ford.

If anybody here has a vehicle over 25 years old and drives it less than 2000 miles a year. Parades, shows, cruise ins.
You can buy full coverage insurance at a very low cost from a company in PA,
JC Taylor AAA Inc.
I went thru all the classic/antique insurance companies, they are the best price , and have a great reputation.

I currently have full coverage policy with them on these 2 cars.

$212/year, total for both cars.
All you got to do is call them and ask for an application, or they will quote you on the phone . Super people.

When I looked into classic car insurance they required that you have a separate car (newer than classic) or you couldn't get insurance. They also required a garage for the classics.
If I wanted a newer car I'd already own it.

It's in a completely different league than the L98 in the 1988 Vette you were looking at.
 
@SheepDog , yes a pole barn or garage is required . Yes we have a daily driver.

Yes it is , especially with a few upgrade mods ie..large volume (58cfm) throttle body, cold air intake and big open exhaust flowmasters.

Yes it is a different league , it is quite the beast.

Well that thing will NEVER run! It has no distributor and no carburetor!
It does have a lot of extra hoses and lines to monitor the exhaust though. :)
 
I held onto my 78 ford until 94... one reason, I could stand in the engine compartment with my feet on the ground and work on it. Those days are long gone! :(

Edit to add... these days if you drop a wrench or bolt the odds of it falling to the ground are slim.

Funny you mention distributor, it's actually a very technical, reliable ,optical, distributor that runs off a gear thru the water pump housing, down under air intake plenum, called the Optispark. Used in 1992-1996 Corvettes.

Me too.
With 285 x35R19 rear tires , mounted on 11" wide wheels, not sure of tread width, looks like about 14".
This thing doesn't burn a lot, but grips and goes. Scary when it hits 3rd gear, and pins you back in the seat...little scary , your hitting 110 mph and didn't realize it quickly.
Man .... I'm gonna enjoy this car this summer.
