I am wondering if there are "any" foods that might get damaged at that setting.
The "WHY" is because when I plugged it in, I turned the dial "ALL" the way in one direction. I was surprised that now four months later I put a thermometer inside the freezer.Damn good freezer for doing that but why???
We set ours at zero degrees and everything lasts just fine.
"They" say 4° is the optimal freezer temperature.I don't know what the ideal freezer temp is, but when I worked in Antarctica the freezers had to be heated during winter to maintain a temp of around -20.

Don't know who "They" is, but USDA says 0°F or below (that means at all times)."They" say 4° is the optimal freezer temperature.
