I save almost all of the e-mails from family in the Family folder. Friend's e-mails go to Friends folder. Vocabulary words and random stuff goes to INFO. Account stuff and important things go to Important folder. Any sort of receipt or message about a purchase goes to 0rders & Receipts folder. Stuff that I plan to read later goes to Read Later.
I'm better at organizing my e-mail than I am at organizing my house. LOL.

@Frodo, that image is too small/blurry for me to read.

I knew a guy that had every work email he had ever received. Thousands of them.
Even more astounding is he could remember he had some information in one of those emails and he could find it.
He would guess the month and year and start his search from there.
He was an instructor/tech support and he got a lot of questions.
My email box has a limit. If I were to let it get full, I wouldn't get any more email. Maybe he has a google or yahoo mailbox.

When an environment changes for any reason, animals (including human animals) will adjust to change. "Some" animals (including some human animals) will be quicker to react to any "change" in environment.

This discussion is quite relevant to "Prepping & Survival".

Ok, wander off if y'all must!

Can I just be the ignorant one to ask outright?
So we are talking op-sec and all the @I and monitoring of everything right?
Or is there something I’m totally missing?

The forum is very perfect for the majority of members.

But lacks "MEAT & POTATOES" for those who would appreciate a few subjects that requires something greater than a few drive-by posts. Often when I come and look at "NEW POSTS" cover page, I notice that (1) ONE member has responded to every thread on that "RECENT POSTS" page in less than 12 minutes.

To be able to respond to twenty SOME threads in under twelve minutes, I take that to indicate that none of those threads required much thinking.

Yes, I understand that most come for entertainment and fellowship with forum friends and members. And that is GREAT. But some want to learn new things, dig into discussions so dynamic they can't sleep, they have to get-up and see what information was added to that thread.

Some of us have been party to threads that stayed on subject and ran over 300 posts, and the thread lasted months. Those threads were very educational, because they brought-forth new thinking, new awareness, showed deep, likely fatal planning errors by some participating in that thread.

The key was that it was a totally virgin subject. Everyone was looking for new information, looking to learn. It was an extremely vibrant discussion. That is what some members find an absence of, and they get listed here as "Missing Members". Good book "Who stole my Cheese". This forum is in a period where there is a shortage of content with meat & potatoes.

I am "NOT" saying there is anything wrong with this forum, I am attempting to explain why some become "missing members". They simply can't find any threads they find interesting & compelling.

This is NOT doomsday preppers, it Homesteading and Country Living! Yes you and MANY have been here since day one and came from a preparedness site, BUT ...it's really a homesteading group! You can NOT look at politics, your choice. But politics are why most try to prepare!! So , ...........

OK..........My issue with politics threads, is they are ranting and raving, pissing and moaning. Never any discussion about a solution or way forward. I love politics. But my interest is how can I best hedge my risk exposure. Not raving about either party, or what is coming, or what they just passed. If we spent time discussing how we can blunt the impact, how we can act imminently to structure our personal situation, to be in a better, safer position. I am personally going wide-open, actually redeploying assets, based on current reality, and anticipated deteriorating reality. I am interested in what others are actually doing, their plan. Not interested in seventeen posts ranting about how sucky the government is, how corrupt it is, everything it is doing wrong. I form a plan and act on that plan. I am not interested in waiting till I am "TRAPPED" and "SCREWED".

I think most folks feel tired, i do. Sort of a breathless waiting, calm before the storm. Months ago I noticed a change IRL, posted about it. Here people in restaurants/shopping, in public places speak in subdued tones, its abnormally quiet. It's really noticeable at restaurants. You'd think folks out with family/friends for a meal would relax, enjoy themselves, laugh, talk. I see less and less of it. It's like everyone is waiting...

At the end of the day, been preparing 30yrs, did the best for my circumstance, even learned a new skill, plant medicine. If it ain't done now... probably won't get done.

Yes.
What gets old is hearing posts every week, for years, that scream:
"The end of the world is happening THIS WEEK! Head to your shelter NOW!!

".
"And if you don't have 7 years of food stored... like I do🤓... you will die a slow horrible death!"gaah

After the 49th time when nothing happens, well you just tune it out:(.

OK..........Go to "What's New" or "Recent Posts" and read through the list of thread titles, even read some of the content. There is very-very little about homesteading, farming, gardening or country living. I am "NOT" saying there is zero, but there is very little. Notice how many (new members) who join this forum to learn about "Homesteading and Country Living" in the new member section, then they disappear.

There are very few threads about farming, gardening, harvesting, budgeting, investing, purchasing/selling property or the tax ramifications of everything.

I would point out to you that even the most serious preppers are not "doomers" or Doomsday preppers. Actually, they are the "EXACT" opposite of "THAT". The Doomsday preppers are those who just woke up to Current Reality. Those who have been at it for decades, actually "living" it, have placed themselves near abundant water resources, abundant fish and game, have 15 cords of split/dried firewood. They are far from doomers, they are ready. They are not fearful of the future; they are attempting to motivate others.

This is the "Flaw" in your post. Those who choose to believe nothing as ever happened are simply wrong. I was born at the end of WW-II, and I am well aware of the horrific happenings over the last 77 years. And it is accelerating at a bewildering rate. What is happening today to and in America (and western Europe) frightens everyone I know personally.

What bewilders me is that most live in a fantasy reality, where they think something will make everything good again. All I can say is for me America peaked in the 1950's. The government corruption born November 1963 was the foundation for our current destruction.

Sourdough, your thoughts are interesting. It's like you were hoping homesteadingforum.org would be a doomsday cult, and you seem a bit put out that it's not. There are indeed some people here who fit that profile. I think most people on this forum are not like that though. I know I'm not. Different levels of prepping are represented here, that's for sure, but not too many have jumped off into the deep end with the doomsday thing. I will say that it is interesting to read the posts from the doomsday group - imagining the life they must be leading and the life they are planning for.

This forum is what you make of it. I would encourage folks to post threads they'd like to discuss, and it will go in that direction. Don't be part of the problem, instead be part of the solution.
Yes, I visited the other forum that 5 of us members fled from and went to TF, and then to here.
I watched the other forum get burned to the ground, going from over a hundred posts per day to...
Wow! They had 5 whole new posts today (Saturday)!!! :woo hoo: (not threads, posts).

Carbon Media has a knack for killing forums. Probably their only talent.

HELL YEAH!
I wandered in here as a survivalist, I think you guys have changed me quite a bit, so being a retiring prepper predator to be, I decided to help out any way I could. I hope I have. The human race needs more people like you and less of what I used to be. BUT back to Supervisor42's nugget of wisdom.
The trick is not to know the end is coming, it is already here, and we see it daily, No my friends, the trick is to Look out the window when its time, then head to the BOL/Shelter with a shrug and a smug smile as you bolt the door and say:
"I told you so."

If this place is not what you need, then why do you keep coming back? There ARE other places to go.
Why post leading questions that are digging for personal information and security of people while not doing the same about yourself? That makes me very suspicious.
Thats why I took a break and I watched the board, not logged in.
There are a couple on here that do that, so I'm not giving any more information out on here.
I'm not posting what is in my pantry and how much of it, or IF I have weapons and what kind and what any security features I have or anything else that would jeopardize my security.
I'll post hints or recipes

What bewilders me is that most live in a fantasy reality,
I think that has always been the case.....and mostly due to normalcy bias.

The difference in the last several years though is that people are now being encouraged to believe in what they want to believe in - more so than at any previous time in human history.

That which people choose to consider the truth, is chosen like selecting food from the menu in a fast food joint.

That makes discussions on these forums increasingly difficult.

Arguing a point of logic that should be self-evident doesn't count for much anymore - people are too accustomed to denying logic.

Spot on Havasu!! And to turn this back in the right direction, there are members I miss!! Many here have had health issues lately. So when I asked "where's Sourdough", I did that hoping you were ok! 😉
