week 7 day 7

much to my surprise I lost a lb this week!! Yeah :) so 15 lbs to go
must be the swimming

today I am going to make something non diet friendly, Greek pasta ( pastitio ) , it's pasta, ground lamb, bechamel sauce , cheese
will make green beans with it since I am out of salad stuff

next week sometime I am going to do a 3 day crash diet to move it along ( just fruits and veggies)

Well, Sonya123, after 8 months of dieting, last night I had a Double Double Burger and french fries from In n Out last night. Dang, it sure tasted really good, but I now have buyer's remorse! Ah hell, I'm down 40 pounds, I can afford to slip once in awhile. This guilt will hopefully last me another 8 months before i have another burger. I'm still hovering at 219 pounds.

glad you enjoyed your eating out !!

If I had a cheat day it would be ( lol, I do these anyways) 2 slices of my homemade pizza ( I can't eat anymore ) and 2 pieces of blackforest cake , and a German Aldi beer with some chips later

week 8 day 1

today I am going to make chicken curry, rice, mango salad, chickpea curry , cucumber salad
no soup , too much stuff there already

My weight this morning was 218, so in the last 3 weeks, there has only been a 3 pound fluctuation. I did notice my 36" waist pants were getting baggie on me, so I bought my first pair of size 34" pants, and darn, if they didn't fit good! Last thing worth mentioning is the fact that 20-30 years ago, the length of my pants were always 34" inseam. I found that I must have shrunk, so in the last 30 years, I changed to a 32" inseam. Now, I am finding 34" inseam fits me better. I know with our supply chain issues, many countries use different measuring tapes, so maybe this is just different country variations?

You are wearing the same size pants that I am.

Running late today but went to forest anyhow..i pushed myself pretty hard up side of mtn and pretty fast...cardio was good and i just kept going till trail leveled out. Pounded trail steady going and coming back to truck. Felt pretty satisfied..could feel it in my thighs and buttocks when i got back to my rig. Gaining function back it seems..no problem/pain in the foot either.

Late today posting

Today I am just eating veggies, just had broccoli, carrots and yellow squash
made veggie only soup for later ( lots of cabbage in it, no meat, no egg, no pasta or rice either)

Figured out something disturbing: I use up over 200 cal a day just putting sugar in my tea or coffee!! I actually weight what I thought was a "teaspoon" which supposedly has around 20 cal in it, so I didn't worry about it. Well my teaspoon has more like 100 calories in it ( I weight the sugar, they have a funny idea of what a teaspoon is)

week 8 day 4 almost forgot that

Made another record today!

week 8 day 5

last day of my short crash diet, fruit and veggies today

I think a lot of people probably underestimate how many calories they eat. I did it with the sugar in my coffee ( LOL yes still put in sugar this morning but only half the amount) . when you actually look at what " a serving " is, it's a tiny amount. Who eats 5 potato chips or half a cup of rice or 2 oz of meat ( that's like nothing)
After doing this for a while I am 100% convinced that for a healthy person ( not diabetic or whatever) it is the amount of calories that make people fat not what they eat. I have eaten cake, cookies, ice cream pizza on weeks I lost a pound. I just limited how much I ate

Not exactly. Like I said before, one could eat 1200 calories of sugar and your body would use every single calorie consumed. And, one could eat 1200 calories of fiber and starve to death since the body digests very little fiber. In other words, if you eat foods with high fiber content, forget counting their calories, you'll feel full and lose weight.

I think fiber doesn't have calories but yes, if you eat a lot of fruit and veggies with fiber in it you feel full without eating a ton of calories. I feel the same amount full if I eat a bowl of veggie soup or a half a bag of chips, but the chips have a huge amount more calories and the soup doesn't
still comes down to calories....you can eat the same calorie amount of skinless chicken breast, or bacon but you will feel way more full with the chicken breast since you would only get a tiny amount of bacon....
comes down to calories the chicken has way more protein way less fat, the bacon is all fat. Protein has 4 calories , fat has 9 per gram. More than double
25 calories in 100 grams of cooked green cabbage ( nothing added)
900 calories in 100 grams of bacon ....there you go

so the trick is to eat a lb of cooked cabbage with a slice of cooked bacon crumbled on top LOL you will get both but without the calories you would get eating bacon and eggs

Fiber does have a lot of calories. However, these calories are not used by the body. The way food scientists determine how many calories a particular food has is by putting the food in a device called a "bomb calorimeter." The food is burned and the device measures the amount of heat given off. The amount of heat is converted to calories. So, one could put sawdust in a bomb calorimeter and it would have calories. Sugar has 3,900 calories per kilogram.

LOL I am sure my dog has 50000 some calories in him but I am not going to eat him either. Not sure what your point is? I am not telling anyone to eat sawdust ....
I am talking about calories the human body uses, in the form of carbohydrates ( sugars) proteins and fat.
Your body could survive if you just ate sugar , at least for a little while. It also obviously needs proteins, fat , vitamines and minerals but for a short time just sugar would do. So if you ate ( NOT telling anyone to do this obviously) nothing but 1000 calories worth of sugar a week
so if you drank 2 liters of coke ( about 1000 calories) every day and nothing else, ( pure sugar) you would still lose weight

https://www.eatthis.com/highest-calorie-restaurant-food/

just looked this up out of curiosity, never eaten any of those
that one piece of chocolate cake has enough calories for the entire day wow
some of the breakfast things have over 2000 calories just for 1 breakfast

probably good thing we don't go out to eat and when we do we don't get any of those things or go to any of those restaurants either

rough hike yesterday mtn chewed me up and spit me out. had to walk about 15 minutes this morning to limber up.going to be mind game today to get a true walk in and not my twice daily short walks. exploring this type area your body dont have no choice but to get in better shape...well..maybe break is an option too.

Although that terrain looks fun to explore through, I am hesitant to do so myself because one twisted ankle would put me back on the sofa and how would that work with my weight loss?
For sure...better to keep on with weight loss and getting in shape over not. I couldnt/wouldnt do that everyday. I wanted to test my foot and more to see if stepping on rocks and more if foot would show its not 100%..i did pretty good and didnt feel anything.I was very careful for many reasons...this is bear dens and poisonous snake den for sure..it hit 67f yesterday too.

I use to do this type terrain and far worse all day long...but that was younger and not broken me too.Its better to get out on a trail and old skid roads than to stay on couch.Today i will do a good trail if i go.

A place i want to go is 2 miles through that rough stuff just to get to the edge and point of going into the wild area i want to go into. Its going to be awhile before i get into spot i wanna explore for sure.

your area looks a lot like ours, except our mountain is very steep
I try to stay on the logging roads when I go up for the most part , plus path in between them but those are really steep

So, I think I overdid my dieting. Got lightheaded this morning taking care of the animals. Not sure if my sugar was too low or my blood pressure or something else but I went and made breakfast today. Something son has been requesting and I had everything to make it: breakfast quesadillas ( fried tortilla with srambled eggs, spinach, garlic , white beans and cheese , feta and colby jack)

then I made my rice noodles and had a large plate full ( but that's pretty low cal)
and a mango mochi ice cream for desert ( but they are tiny and don't have many calories)
