Hello all!!! have reached the point where I MUST lose weight as am diagnosed with CHF (congestive heart failure) and am close to 100 lbs over!! Edema, sneaky water weight gain, is my biggest enemy along with my age. For me its eating between 6am and 3pm. Best to stop after my dinner at 1pm, but depending on what that was, a bit of protein around 3pm is good. Mostly cutting fats down, watching the carbs, and upping the protein along with some cardio and weights for muscles and boosting metabolism. For those of us who (1) like to eat and (2) have to cook for those who are not trying to lose weight, its a long hard road!!

Hope you post your progress!! Doesn't seem right that putting on weight is such a short road, and losing it is a long hard road! You have good reason to embark on this journey, good luck!!

@sonya123 do you make your own kimchi? My sister suggested kimchi to me, a little at a time, for digestive health.
Tell me about your kimchi stew please.
yes I make my own kimchi, have made it out of store bought nappa cabbage ( it seems to get eaten by bugs here so I can't grow it well) , and regular cabbage which grows great here.

Kimchi recipe :

Cut up and wash the cabbage, a whole large one, and put in a bowl with about half cup of sea salt, canning salt or anything else that doesn't have iodine in it . Mix it really well with your hands. Let it sit with a plate on top for about a few hours, mix it up every half hour so so. Fill the bowl with water, rinse, repeat. Add 2 tbsp salt, 2 tbsp fish sauce, 1 shredded carrot, 3 chopped green onions, chopped or shredded ginger, a lot of chopped fresh garlic, Half cup ( or less if you don't like it spicy) Korean hot pepper flakes. This you need to get online or Asian store, don't use anything else , Mix it all up, it should have some liquid in it now. Then I use a half gallon canning jar and have a special fermenting lid but you could use any non metal jar with a lose fitting lid. Stuff the cabbage in as tight as you can to almost the top, and put some sort of weight on it ( I got some glass weights for fermenting online some years ago) . Let it sit at room temp in the dark ( I just put it in a bucket with a towel over it for a few days to a week, depending on how warm it is . Then you should see bubbles and it should be starting to ferment. Then you can just put it in fridge to use

So sorry , good luck!
I started this thread to keep track of what it is I eat , and it works . At least I know exactly why I lose and gain weight@!
If I eat only between 10 and 6, and don't eat any junk I lose weight. One thing that works great for me is to make soup every day ( low cal broth type soups with no meat) and have a bowl before lunch, plus lunch is our main meal. I only eat a fruit or maybe some oatmeal or a tuna sandwich in the evening early.
My problem lately has been holiday baking, not sticking to the schedule and baking too much bread.
But, this might not work for you, we do a lot physical labor that uses calories, so I eat pretty much what I want. We don't eat out. Almost never anyway

Thank you! Can I come over? Lol 😍
Excuse me but I don’t have any fish sauce. What is fish sauce? We’re in a whole new world in Sonya’s kitchen.
you can buy fish sauce at the walmart, just look at the international section, or any regular grocery store like Kroger
You absolutely need this for kimchi, it won't taste the same without it, plus it is fermented, so maybe you need that to ferment the cabbage, but you can buy a small bottle of it, and use it in any Thai, Vietnamese , Korean, actually most Asian food except Chinese ( don't have any recipes for that in Chinese food) . Do you like Thai food? I have a really easy and good recipe for Thai red chicken curry ( or beef or pork)
I love Asian food more than anything else , so I buy large bottles of soy sauce and fish sauce at the Asian store

We'll go together, I told her I would come clean her house!
LOL, yeah....about that...our house currently is very bad, and I am not going to worry about it until the weather improves. We bring dirty barn buckets into the house to fill up and I have given up taking my boots of going in and out too...
