I remember stopping by one of the first McD. in the 60's and getting a bag full of burgers at $.10 each and fries also at $.05 each and going fishing or hunting with family. So much for the dollar menu at McDonald's!
i saw a substiute recipe yesterday for brown sugar. I believe it was 1tablespoon molasses to a cup of granulated for light brown sugar. 2 tablespoons for dark. Was told yesterday that if I needed any brown sugar, I should go ahead and buy. We ran out at Thanksgiving and looks to be the same for Christmas time.
Jim, I don't drink the coffee rub. It's for cooking meat. I haven't use sweeteners in coffee since the 1970s. And even then I did not like sugar, I only used wildflower honey.I haven't used any type of sweetener in my coffee in years.i love my coffee strong, bold, and obnoxious enough to slap me.
Your memory is correct. So this may be a reason to stock up on molasses too for some who have enough sugar on hand. In fact I may just get a few more jars. My discount kicks in tomorrow until the 24th.i saw a substiute recipe yesterday for brown sugar. You may want to double check this, I could be off on the cup of granulated.
Wife has been using a lot of dark lately and I hate paying grocery store prices because i can only find light brown sugar in bulk.
I seen that next to the Spam yesterday at the store. I'll have to give it try next we go shopping.I was looking in the canned meat department for some kind of non perishable meat to keep on the shelf at BOL2. I saw the Spam price...
Sitting next to the Spam was Armor Star Treet, and it was significantly less expensive. I looked at the ingredients and it a blend of several different meats. I bought some of the low sodium Treet to try it.
I like it a LOT better than Spam! Spam I have to mask the taste with mustard or hot sauce (same with Vienna sausages). I can eat the Treet cold straight out of the can.
Not bad as a SOS with some baked beans on toast. Not bad at all!
I had flour sack clothes made by my grandmotherA flashback to what a Kansas company put flour and grain in during the Great Depression…to help those who couldn’t afford clothing.
