@Bacpacker, these are good "get to know you" questions! Well done.

1) What is your favorite science fiction book and/or author?
I can't think of any - I really don't read science fiction.
Unless one considers "Outlander" science fiction due to the time travel element.

2) Name the 1 or 2 things you are most skilled at.
Genealogy - I've helped people get past some brick walls. And especially satisfying were the couple times I used DNA and genealogy to help someone sort out an adoption situation and find living biological family members.
Compiling information - But I have to be interested in the topic, lol.

3) What is your favorite fruit, nut, or veggie to raise? Or the one that performs best for you?
Love growing potatoes. The harvest is like digging for treasure!

4) After a long hard stressful day workin, either at work or around your own place, what is your favorite way to relax and unwind?
I used to relax with a book to read. But in the last few years I tend to get online and dive down rabbit holes - which isn't relaxing. I really need to get back to unwinding with a good book.

5) Where is your favorite vacation destination? Could be your best trip ever, or the one you keep going back to.
I'm with @Weedygarden - love the National Parks, would love to visit more. But aside from that, the best place I've ever been (both by myself and also with my family) is the Black Hills region.

I messed up #1, I meant just plain ole Fiction, not the SciFi stuff.

Mine are as follows
1 JRR Tolkien, Jack London, and Tom Clancy All three draw me in and I have reread several each of their multiple times. HG Wells and SIr Arthur Conan Doyle are a couple others.

2 Working with my hands. I can build or repair all kinds of stuff. Been at that since before I was a teen. Gardening would be a close and related second

3 Garlic, Onions, and Taters. Easy to grow, not a ton of fussing with them, and almost always have a good to excellent harvest

4 Sitting outside under a shade tree in the peace and quite with a nice cigar. Maybe a glass of Brandy if I'm in the mood.

5 The Outer Banks in NC is the place we've been most often. Went there on our honeymoon and had such a good time, we keep going back. National Parks is high on the list too. We've been to several, and plan on hitting a bunch more in the west once I retire

Sci Fi Book or author? Vonnegut, Asimov...Foundation Series. Other...prepper fiction.
Skilled at? Food prep, taking care of husband, teaching little ones
Growing? green beans, tomatoes, squash, greens
Relaxing stuff...I like visiting. We do alot of that around here.
For travel, we traveled so much before moving here, I'm not in the mood to travel right now. So here is good.

I will have to amend #1 if we are changing to favorite author. Really tough to pick one.

John Grisham; David Baldacci; CJ Box; David Rosenfelt Lee Child are all still alive and active.

Elmore Leonard; Stuart Woods; Robert B. Parker have all passed but left a significant body of work
