I'm still up and still dealing with icky bugs on the old dog. Just got 3 off his eyelid. I'm gonna have to put him on the line (50ft) to keep him out of the woods.

I think I figured out why he seems to be getting so many. I saw him try to scratch his ear with a back paw today. He couldn't do it, arthritis in his hips. He's really gone down hill the past year because of age.

Anyway, the reason he's getting ticks on his head is because he can't scratch them off as he could in previous years. I'm gonna have to keep a sharp eye on him.

Here he is just two years ago. I barely recognize him now, it happens that way with sheppards.

Do you give him that glucosamine whatever it's called? It is supposed to help with arthritis. And I read that drinking distilled water is better than drinking water that may have a heavy mineral content. Just a thought.

Decided to try something new. I poured a small dose of colloidal silver onto a piece of bread and fed it to the pup. I killed heart worms in a dog using colloidal silver a few years ago.

But I know for a fact it has an effect on ticks, kills them. Going to see if it has the same effect on the dogs.

@Double R I have an update to this... on mar 06 I gave the old dog and pup a little colloidal silver, poured on a piece bread.

Tonight I got 2 ticks off the old dog and one off the pup. All three were dead. I have no idea how this works. It was an accident I noticed a correlation between c. silver and ticks, realized it killed ticks when they start drinking blood. I saw this happen about 10yrs ago and I purposely repeated it the next year. I was taking c. silver.

There was a hay field I lease. When I'd cut this field in early June it'd be loaded with ticks. I'd always get 2 or 3 off me in the shower that night. Of course they were latched on, had bit me.

One year I was taking c. silver for a flu bug going around as a preventative. That night after cutting hay I got a couple dead ticks off me, then again a couple days later when I baled.

I noticed and was curious. The next year I started taking c. silver a week before cutting. It happened again, dead ticks in the shower.

I wish I knew why this works. I know it has something to do with cell permeability. Silver interferes with cell wall construction of nasty bacteria... may have the same effect on ticks.

Thank you very much for the update @Peanut! I am going to have to give this a try. How much did you give them? This could be an answer to tick season. Got me wondering if flea’s will have the same ending

About a teaspoon poured of a piece of bread to absorb it. Then just feed it to the dog.

I haven't thought to test this with fleas, good idea!

But, the tick still bites and can infect so it's more of an after the fact effect.

Long, long ago (well, 1955) I managed to get 'the crabs' during AF basic. Flea&Tick powder done 'em in overnight (they did put up a fight though).
