@phideaux glad our summer time posts are cheering you up and getting you geared for your summer there too :D .

@Spikedriver hope you and your daughter start feeling better shortly.

@Fort hope the migraine stays away they are very debilitating :( .

@Double R take some time out to look after yourself as well as others too hugs.

@buildit as the one toddler put it whilst throwing a wobbly to my husband when we were working in nursery you could substitute said word for his being "poo poo head" . Do you know how hard it is to keep a straight face when a toddler calls you that, let me tell you not easy.

Yesterday afternoon the heat got the better of us so we repurposed shade cloth given to us by a builder friend to enclose the front open veranda with using stainless steel nails to put it up with as the sun just beats down on the front wall of the house in the lounge room where we sit. It is so much cooler in here today as we only have fans and have been reaching temperatures of between 35 - 37 oc here.

This morning DH started off the day with stain removing some clothing , putting a load of washing on and hanging it on the clothes line to dry. We managed to save the washing as a shower of rain came in this afternoon.

I deep cleaned the bathroom and toilet for the week and we noticed a really bad smell coming from the vanity sink when water was going down it. I told DH it appeared to me to be a straw that someone had shoved down there. DH took the sink drain out and probed around in there with a metal meat skewer and found 2 full length straws and lots of other things shoved down there obviously from the last tenants in here or a few before as we heard from our neighbours that most who lived here were as they put it "feral" . With that all cleared we put some dishwashing liquid, bicarb soda and vinegar down the vanity, kitchen and bathtub sinks and waited for it to fuzz up and then washed them all down with boiling water and they all drain really well now. A trick taught to me by my great depression era grandmother to clear blockages in household drains, bless her, and it works a treat to deodorise, clean and clear blockages in all incidences I have found.

We were going to go out into the gardens and then do some weeding but down came the rain which we need here, so we stayed inside the house.

DH is now making our Friday night homemade pizza from scratch including dough with a topping of homegrown capsicums, cherry tomatoes and tinned mushrooms to last us the next two nights dinner.

Good morning guys and gals and of course lurkers ;) . Since I no longer have to take care of Bill, just have to go fill the corn burner twice a day and bring in the mail and paper,I should have more time to spend on here and do my own stuff :D ,course I'd rather have him here ;).

I hear you Squirrel. I use to get many emails from my buddy we buried yesterday on a daily basis, whether it was when we were going shooting again, tips on keeping his car running, when we were going to meet for dinner, etc, and my inbox is now empty. Very surreal ...and sad.

Thank you :) Hugs!
I Really enjoy your posts! Poo poo head! I love it! I may use that one! I learn my best sayings from kids!

Again, I just love your posts! I learn a lot! Really enjoy seeing all you two do in a day.

Illinois! Where you can go from flip flops to snow boots in less than 24 hours! 2pm yesterday was 64 degrees to 16 degrees at 9 am this morning! Everything is covered in ice! Coffee is good, think I'll bake some bread!

I need to do that and get a bunch in the freezer.
Enjoy the coffee and fresh bread smell!

Double R. And Fort hope you are both feeling better today. Wasnt really able to get on much last night with the system problems.

Thank hun! Yes it was a mess. I think they got it worked out. Wasn’t just our forum. Apologies about that!

Just got back from taking my daughter to the doc. She tested positive for influenza A. Looks like we'll be spending my days off at home. And I hope my flu shot works this year!

I’m so sorry Spike! That’s awful! I hope she continues to get better and you don’t get it.

I understand what your going threw. Been a month now for me since “mom” passed. She went to a care home in feb but still had a lot to do and care for the place.
Remember if he has a septic to run some water regularly. I forgot. Was reminded yesterday. Sure hope I didn’t let it dry out.

It’s amazing how used to that kind of thing we get. Then when it stops we realize how important it was in our life. I didn’t realize it with my birth father either until he died. It’s been a few months now and I look for his emails less but I still find the void great at times.

I know,I went through this type of think about 5-6 years ago when my dad died. I had been taking care of him since not long after mom died, did it for 3 years then all of a sudden it stopped. Sure took some getting use to.

Well, I'm getting a Blizzard,,, and not Dairy Queen..

It definitely does.
It’s very different going into the house to care for things now. It just feels different now.
I’m still taking care of it how she would want though. Probably silly but to me it’s still hers even though it’s really sis’s house now.

@squirrelhunter @havasu and @Double R I am so sorry for your recent losses. :(

I am finally caught up. @Double R would have done that all in one post but I am not that talented. Haha.

My neighbor came over and helped me with my dining room, laundry room, and kitchen today. It is tough work for me emotionally. I keep finding things that bring back a lot of memories. But I am making forward progress and that is what is important. :)

I am going to try to take a nap to compensate fir getting less than 3 hours of sleep last night. Hopefully this won't cause problems with sleeping tonight.

Now I am just tired from having insomnia last night. I am planning to take a nap shortly :)

Don’t nap. Makes the insomnia worse.

Thank you hun. Much appreciated. Another one coming any day. Rough time right now.

Stay awake. You’ll be able to sleep better tonight.

Me too. I usually sleep all night and go to sleep fast, but last night all I did was.........

That was cute. YouTube was part of my problem last night.

The biggest problems were that I couldn't get my brain to stop thinking about everything and I kept thinking about how little time I had left to sleep before I would have to get up.
