So true!
Looking forward to the book review! I didn't know they had an accompanying book. I've watched that series about 4 times now.I have some catching up on this thread to do. 3-4 pages! I took my raised bed frames to the powder coater this morning so looking forward to getting those back.
Wanted to let @Tommyice know I watched the whole series of the Victorian Kitchen Garden and just ordered the book Thank you for the recommendation. I was going to rewatch (which I still might) and take notes, but I'll now wait until I get the book and see what info it has then see how many notes I might need (or not) to take.
Not sure what slope your land lays at. But lumber could get slick when wet or muddy. Pavers not so much. Just a thoughtHey @Tommyice I'm with you on the Stalag 13, between birds, squirrels, stray cats, and dogs I am constantly fighting an uphill battle... Ho don't forget the dang butterfly's and caterpillars, I think I need an anti-aircraft gun installation. I have lots of wood working to do to finalize my current list of projects for the garden. I am debating on whether to use paving stones on put down pressure treated planks, the area is only about 25 sq feet but it is a mix between red clay and black dirt, every time it rains I end up tracking stuff into the house. I have already stained the carpet in the basement to the point it looks like I have been doing all my oil changes in there, without a catch tray. The paving stones would match what I already have, the lumber would be cheaper....
I've not heard of icicle radishes. I planted French Breakfast radishes and they are up. I've read of radishes for breakfast and thought it was strange so when I saw these, had to try. They are only about 1/2" tall at the moment - will keep you posted.I was out right after the snow this morning, looking at the garden dirt. Wondering when the kale was coming up. But hey, I've been staring at the icicle radishes, and it worked. They came up yesterday.
I have, they look like white carrots, but are radishes, common in Asia for many years.I've not heard of icicle radishes. I planted French Breakfast radishes and they are up. Should have brought the son to do the liftingWell I decided to go with paving stones for walkways between my raised beds to reduce the dirt migration into the house. Have you ever noticed that when you are at the home project stores everyone disappears when you start stacking bricks? Because I was looking at it from a total revamp perspective I ended up just filling the back of the truck up. I saw some head romaine seeds so I picked up 4 packets, that may have over loaded my cart
I will get to see how that wheel barrow works out as I move this stuff around the house and down the hill. I really want to be ready to start moving plants by Sunday afternoon so getting all this ground work done is a big deal to me.
I have purple majesty potatoes, 2.5 lb.I got the the German Butterball, Kenebec, and red potatoes ready to go for this year. Ran out of bone meal (my bad!). Found it on Amazon for less than $2/lb so ordered (2) 24 lbs bags. That should keep me for a while. The fingerling and Purple Viking potatoes will have to wait to get fed.
I put all of the seedlings and grape vines clones out on the deck to start hardening them off. It was very windy so I brought them back in after about 4 hours. I still have 2 weeks until we move into the "maybe" phase for frost.

Can you share where you got the lights from? A relative of mine has been having a difficult time finding some and he won't buy from Amazon.I have 1300 watts of full spectrum led maybe a foot over my seedings this morning. I’m going to try and get around and gather material to build my little room. I’m thinking a 4’x8’ room. I have no idea what I’m doing except for building the room, I can handle that part.

That'll work! The only weird thing I did was save empty kleenex boxes to use as temp risers to be closer to the lights while the seeds are sprouting. The shelf I used has a lots of space between the shelves. I didn't want to move the lights closer to the plants. This was easier.
Building a room sounds great! You'll have no problem filling it
