Look behind you in that dark corner.
In an iron skillet, melt butter and lightly fry a crushed and minced clove of garlic.
Dust with black and red pepper, add a bit of diced onion, and caramelize the lot.
Slice a 3/4" hunk of cabbage head and lay it in the grease. Fry for 5 minutes, flip, and top with Velveeta.
cover until the cheese melts and serve.

I just made fried cabbage three nights ago. I cut it into thin strips, heat up a large frying pan with barely enough oil to cover the bottom (maybe a tablespoon?), and then heat the cabbage over medium heat, mixing frequently, just until it turns bright green and wilts. Do not overcook - it only takes a few minutes. The only seasoning I use is some salt mixed in about halfway through cooking.

Here is a picture from a different thread of what it looks like:

I fry cabbage sometimes, like it, good eats. I pass on the cheese though.

This braised cabbage is good but I've also done it as fried cabbage, just leave off the juice and cook it quickly. Cabbage and apples go good together.

Braised Red Cabbage
Ingredients
2 tbsp canola oil
1 Granny Smith apple, peeled, cored, and cubed
1 pint unfiltered apple juice
1/4-tsp caraway seeds
1 1/2 tsp kosher salt
Freshly ground black pepper
1/2 head of red cabbage, shredded
brown apple chopped in 2 oz canola oil
add juice and spices
add red cabbage
low heat for 20 min.
before serving add lemon juice for acid then a pat of butter Eat

A good old plain cabbage, onion, and potato soup is hard to beat.
Add a hunk of chicken and red pepper the next night, and the flavor changes.
Add garlic and basil, and you're good another day. By now, the veggies have
disintegrated, so stir in a light cream and butter sauce or cheese and pour it
over cornbread.

And of course, sauerkraut goes with pretty much any meat but chicken and Kimchee
takes care of that.

Regular boiled cabbage with cheese is great!

Add tomato paste and fried ground beef to a pot of drained boiled cabbage with some thyme and basil for a family meal.

Add some onion and garlic and blend it into a paste, then mix in flour and meal and fry it to make cabbage fritters. Dip them in cheap spaghetti sauce.

Yes... Fried cabbage is a 1930s(?) ..poor mans steak.. Onion and cheese making a sort of cheese burger dish out of it does sound good..

I occasionally also like a big skillet of wilted shredded cabbage with onion, garlic, toasted sesame seed and a tea spoon of toasted sesame seed oil.. :great:

I make fried cabbage. I cut up a few slices of bacon into half to one inch strips and fry until crispy. I remove the bacon and put in chopped onion and cook until soft. Then I add crushed and chopped garlic and cook that for a couple minutes. Add the chopped cabbage, salt pepper, a little garlic powder and cook until soft. I add a little bit of water and cover it. I stir it a couple times and when almost done I stir in the bacon.
