I couldn't answer that question honestly as I am simply not aware of the statistics, I could say that the majority of gun related crime only tends to apply to criminal organizations attacking each other currently, oh you get the odd **** holding up a 7-eleven with a .22 or an air rifle sometimes even a .303 or wife shoots husband scenario.
What I mean to say is, your everyday Australian is more likely to be worried about being punched out by some drunk tard than being shot, you would honestly have to be deeply involved in serious crime or extremely unlucky for it to happen to you. That much I can tell you honestly, it works for our country, I don't know how it would go for your country, we had different weapons laws to America before prior to that anyway.
