Just talked to the sheriff. We're at level 3 evacuation now. Starting to pack up. I'll open the gates and let the livestock out. I'll have to shoot the crippled bull before we leave.
When I read this post my heart just sank for you and your wife and I have been checking up to see if you have been posting updates quite regularly today. I know what it took to get our place to where it is and yours is amplified by a 1000 times. You put your heart and soul into I know. I am glad that your wife is there to help you out. All I want to see right now is another update saying you are both ok, safe and away from the fires.

The reality.
“The sun doesn’t seem to rise or set. The sky gets a little bit brighter and a little bit darker and that’s how you know the day is starting or ending, the air quality ranked among the worst in the world"

I'm seeing a lot of this on the side of the road here.

This is the second time in the last 10 years we have been chased off the property, my dad owned property here since 1975 he purchased from my great uncles, I have never heard from my uncles nor have I seen of a fire season this bad affecting such a wide area in so many states as I have had in 2020. They are saying these fires can burn well into winter, lot of things are just flat out going bad. The AQI is at 528 right now, the smoke is not letting up. They are saying 45% of the population with in the smoke is going to develop permanent lung damage.

So, how are we dealing with the smoke? we have the house shut tight as could be, we are running 5 Honeywell 50300 HEPA air purifier that pulls through 465 square feet per hour on turbo per unit. It's loud especially with 5 of them going. we have plastic around the exterior doors (outside/inside of the door, if we need to go outside or come in, we get on the other side of the plastic before opening the door. I have two windows raised about 3" with carbon filter in the opening (living room and kitchen) the stove exhaust fan to the outside is constantly running to help pull air through the carbon in the windows. Not having a filtered nuclear fallout shelter in my back pocket this is the best I can do at the moment :-/

I'm fine, worried about Arctic, he's in a bad situation, the Smoke pushed me off the property totally different when a fire pushes you off :(
Good Lord knows I have already been praying for Arctics safety. He is tough as we all know, but I still worry. You guys are both very dear to me and what you are dealing with is just sereal for me. I deal with hurricanes and tornadoes with no BIG issues but what you guys are dealing with, with these fires is just unbelievable. . . .

It's also surreal to me :(

Thanks Danilgrl. We made it to town, 2 trips with 3 vehicles and the big gooseneck trailer. I managed to get our most important items but had to leave about 40 years of accumulated stuff. I'll go up in the morning and check things out. I'm sure that with everyone's prayers and best wishes that everything will be fine. It's just stuff anyway. No big deal. We're safe and other people have it far worse than we do.
Before we left I went looking for Johnny the bull to put him down. Couldn't find him anywhere. I just opened some of the gates on the east and south lines. The cattle will hopefully find their way out, or hunker down in a canyon.
Some friends of ours made arrangements for us to stay at a church in town.
In spite of everything we see on tv or read about there really are some good people out there.

Authorities arrest 4 people on arson charges in deadly and massive California, Oregon, and Washington wildfires

California authorities arrested suspect Anita Esquivel for allegedly intentionally setting fires along U.S. 101. She was booked into the Monterey County Jail on arson charges.

Oregon authorities also arrested Michael Jarrod Bakkela, who lived in the woods of Oregon on two counts of arson, 15 counts of criminal mischief, and 14 counts of reckless endangerment.

Oregon Live reports that Bakkela is reportedly responsible for setting one of two major wildfires in the state, which has killed dozens and displaced hundreds.

Oregon State Fire Marshal's office spokesperson Rich Tyler added that the fire Bakkela reportedly set is considered to be one of two origins of the Almeda fire.

Washington authorities arrested two unrelated suspects who reportedly set small fires in the brush in two different areas of freeway.

The FBI on Friday released a statement about reports that "extremists" were responsible for setting wildfires in Oregon.

"FBI Portland and local law enforcement agencies have been receiving reports that extremists are responsible for setting wildfires in Oregon," the statement rad. "With our state and local partners, the FBI has investigated several such reports and found them to be untrue. Conspiracy theories and misinformation take valuable resources away local fire and police agencies working around the clock to bring these fires under control. Please help our entire community by only sharing validated information from official sources."

I am confused. These people are all random arsonists? And not part of an extremist group? I am not trying to be sarcastic. I could see if a politician said that, but the FBI thinks it’s all a coincidence?

Oh Arctic, I can’t tell you how relieved I am to read you and your wife are ok!!! Praise God that there are still good people. No doubt you are both exhausted. Hope you are getting some much needed rest.

As soon as I can get the wife up we'll go get breakfest and then drive up to see our place. Yesterday when I talked to the forest service they said they have a couple dozers, 2 helicopters and 7 tankers to fight the fire in our area. I have a good feeling that everything is going to be fine.
I told the wife that our next place will be a big boat surrounded by water.

Please let us know Arctic. On pins and needles here.

I'm afraid there is going to be a lot of COPD and lung cancer going around because of this.

These people don't need to be part of an organized group, they are doing this to get creds as so called "anti-fascists." Tells you how screwed up in the head they are.

Anyone responsible for this is seriously messed up. They need to be put away, permanently.

Oregon drivers stopped at gunpoint by groups protecting wildfire ravaged properties from looters: sheriff

“We have a group of different individuals that are actually trying to protect property. They actually have been armed and are stopping individuals within the commune out there,” Roberts said. “First thing I’d ask them to do is please stop that. We have reached out to a number of them. If they see somebody suspicious, call us. Let us handle it. It is illegal to stop somebody at gunpoint.”

Meanwhile, in Portland, located in nearby Multnomah County, a man was arrested twice within a 12-hour period after allegedly admitting to using a Molotov cocktail to ignite a brush fire along a freeway.

Domingo Lopez Jr., 45, was arrested for the first time Sunday, and officers found a plastic bottle with a wick as evidence, according to the Portland Police Bureau. He was released hours later only to be arrested a second time Monday for allegedly using a lighter to ignite six more small fires in the same area.

We made it up to the house today. The fire is about 3 miles from our west property line and from there its another 2 miles to the house. The fire has burned to the north of us too. From our front porch we can see individual trees bursting in flames. We're not out of danger yet but I'm feeling more confident that our place won't burn (positive thinking). It's not as smokey today, so that's a relief, still coughing a lot and have a headach. I guess the smoke is going up and over our place. It's dropping a lot of ash here. The winds are light but are still pushing the fire this way. We need rain badly!
