Brownie Snack Cake -

- 2 cups of Brownie Mix
- 3 eggs separated.
- 3 tablespoons of milk
- 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract.

In a mixing bowl, combine brownie mix, egg yolks, milk and vanilla and mix well.
In a small mixing bowl beat egg whites until stiff peaks form and fold into batter.
Pour into 8 inch square baking pan and bake at 350 oF for 25 - 30 mins or until a tootpick inserted comes out clean.
Cool on wire rack.

All of the recipes from this homemade mix come out wonderfully and got to say these are our favourite brownies by far.

Shopping tomorrow at Albertsons. I'm loading up on cereal for the preschool. General Mills cereal is $1.49 a box. I have 12 coupons for $1 off 2 boxes, so that's 99 cents a box, and it's senior discount day, so 10% off that. So 24 boxes of cereal for 90 cents a box each. Bargain.

Will make green bean casserole to go along with it.

Once I'm allowed back in "MY" kitchen I'm going to make up that brownie mix. I'm going to try a batch with shelf stable ingredients and see how it comes out. It would be great to have some homemade "just add water" brownie mixes on the shelf.

Today I adulted again and put aside $100 out of my pension to put towards buying a refurbished laptop to replace the one that got fried.

Payed rent and a $130 electricity bill.
Still haven't gotten around to building my solar power system yet.
I have all the components but.........*crickets*

Fruit and veggies at the supermarket were in a shocking state ( looks like they've been pre-loved, gotten the squeeze test and failed - essentially pig food) and prices were sky high.
Envision me shaking my head.
Thank goodness for the garden which got a little water logged but most survived.

We add pumpkin to the dogs food. At the salvage store, it was 30 ounce cans--3 for $1. I got 24 - 30 ounce cans. Should last awhile! We think small dog has an ulcer so treating with aloe vera juice and see how it goes before going to vet who will want to do many blood tests. If things change, we will take her. It's not the pup in my profile photo. It's another one.

- purchasing bulk cigarette lighters on eBay saving $61.60 over buying them in the shops.
- Topped up sewing room fabric used and purchased enough fabric to make curtains for 2 rooms in the home on a 40% discount saving $45.72 on usual prices. A little under $60 including delivery for 2 rooms of curtain fabric is not too bad at all as they cost a fortune to purchase over here.
- Made a cheesecake with cream cheese purchased on special and lemon juice from lemons gifted to me that I froze saving $69.42 over purchasing one of equivalent quality in the shops.
- DH replaced flyscreen in 2 windows in the home and removed chicken wire from a garden bed down the back yard saving in total $125 over getting a handyperson in to do it for us.

How many lighters did you buy?
Things must be very expensive where you live. It's good that you know how to save and put that knowledge to work.

@backlash we purchase a tray of 50 lighters per year to put into storage and to use for other things.

On eBay they are $19.90 per tray of 50 delivered or just under .40c each and in the most supermarkets and tobacconists sell them 3 for $4.95 or $1.65 each.

We also keep magnesium flint lighters, refillable lighters and windproof waterproof matches, tea light candle lanterns, oil lanterns, solar lanterns in stock here too as you can't have enough ways to light fires and provide light .

Our cost of living here is very high but in comparison our wages here in Australia are a lot higher than the States.

Picked up 8 free pallets. I know that there are places they can’t get rid of them but here they are scarce enough that people pay $20 each for used ones in reasonable shape. I wouldn’t pay for them, but freewas too good to pass up

Starting off with yesterday we went to a clearance or garage sale close to home on a property and purchased -

- 14 galvanised pipe fittings, 2 road pick heads, a garden fork head and a 1.8 m post hole crow bar all for $60. This saved us $404.98 over buying them new taking off the prices of the handles.

Can you believe it that they now (finally) sell non bendable garden tools for $89.95 ea. The older better made ones we purchased for $5 for each pick and garden fork never bent anyway.

Today we went to a small country town near to us and purchased on special 2 bottles of shampoo, conditioner, 4 packets of potato chips on better than half price special, 2 deodorants on half price special and mince at a crazy low clearance price of $5.24 kg ($9 kg usually around here) of which we purchased 4 weighing almost 4 kg. With all the specials and clearances we saved in total $30.84 on usual prices and had a nice lunch out together too.

Been a really good couple of days for saving money around here .

I always pay off the credit card each month. Last month was higher than normal because of some "abnormal" purchases. I paid it off and then put a couple hundred more into savings. I always pay the savings account 10% and more when I can. That way when a great deal comes along I can always take advantage of it, Or when something breaks down I can fix or replace it.

Today's haul consisted of much needed items that I now have ticked off my "to get" list.

Portable twin tub washing machine.
100 mtr roll of weed mat.
1 double cast iron jaffle iron.
1 camp toaster.
2 packs of Big Beef tomato seeds.
1 silicon bowl scrapper.

I had money left over to buy a nice big pork roast, potatoes and other grocery items.

Went to a Walmart that I don't typically shop at and bought some clearance items. They had toothpaste on clearance so picked up a few tubes of stuff I don't typically use. I hope I like it. If I don't, it's no biggie since the price was too good to pass up. I also found some nice heavy jackets for $9, lots of T-fal kitchen items like can openers, tongs, kitchen scissors, etc. for around 75% off, some undergarmets that were $3 and weren't even marked that low. I had good sticker shock at the cash register......I love that!

I have to go back to the same town next week and will make another list and pick up some more clearance stuff while I'm there. The kitchen supplies will go to someone I know who is moving in to a new house next year. I thought it would make a nice house warming gift to put all those things in a nice basket. Those little things get used all the time but people rarely realize how pricey they can get when you have to buy them all at once and they're not on sale.

Pumpkin is very healthy for dogs. good for both constipation and the runs as well as sundry stomach problems

Agree! Also started adding a little bit of aloe juice for the one with tummy issues. She is doing fine now. So glad we managed to fix it without hundreds of dollars of vet bills.

It was a vet who turned us onto pumpkin years ago.

Pumpkin is good for cats too.

I add one half ounce to her breakfast every day. It's the aloe juice from Walmart. I add some to my morning acv and lemon juice drink, too.
