How did I save money today?

Checking around for new Internet service.
Mediacom plan will almost double if not triple in price when Government program runs out of money by May.
Now I pay $30 after 30th of April it will be $97 plus taxes just at 115.
Nope can't do it.
And even if I could I wouldn't to much for crap service here in my part of Missouri.
So I am shopping around for better service plan.
So it might be back to the library for me until I can find something I can afford.

No, never heard of them.
I checked on TMobile 5G Internet this afternoon for $50 a month.
300 mbs, unlimited date and texts,wireless.
But as of right now it's only on part of my town.
But someone is digging and running cables a couple of blocks from me.
Also checked on United Fiber this afternoon.
500 mbs(will come in handy for school), unlimited data, wireless
Am leaning towards them for $60 a month.
Mediacom will have plan comparable to what I have now but it is a downgrade in services.
100 mbs, metered and they decide length not me. bare bones basic for $39.96
Google Fiber is in Excelsior Springs Missouri next big town over coming towards me.
But not here yet.
Placed my self on the waiting list.

I used to do coupons long ago. I'll still use them if my wife hands me one & tells me to buy it. But really I don't do them any more. Now I more or less just save money on things that we buy. My last 2 "buys" were both vacuums. I bought a shark pet something or other & a black & decker battery one. Both we needed to upgrade & I looked at a lot of reviews on each. They were both replacements for our Dyson battery vacuum which died after 2 years. It was good but for the price & now long it lasted I wouldn't buy another. The shark does just as good at the dyson. The b&D does almost as good but I bought it on sale for $97 compared to the $399 for the dyson. For that difference I love the B&D. Also the battery lasts longer (about double). And of course I caught the Shark on sale for $50 off. Mostly I just figure out the best items for the price for things we need.

Today I paid my car rego over 3 weeks early.

I paid a month and a half worth the instalments on my tax bill ahead of time.

I brought a lot of meat to stock my freezer at sale prices.

Filled up the car with petrol at the lowest priced station in town so I can
make it to the surgeon's visit in the big smoke in 2 weeks time.

The next month is going to be rugged so I got ahead on most of the big bills
and made sure I had enough food to last well over a month without shopping again.

I saved money online because my internet was down all morning and I couldn't go onto Amazon.

Staying home.
Window shopping for baking supplies:
Tartlet pans miniature metal pans(those stay at my house) found 25 for less than 41 cents each.
Wal*Mart. com, they will be here 8 April,2024.
Foil tarlet pans 100 for $1.24 also Wal*Mart .com will be here 11 April 2024.
These I use to make miniature pot pies, miniature fruit pies for the freezer.
Also use these for miniature quiche,scrambled eggs for breakfast sandwiches for the freezer.

With last winter and this springs weather the indoor rabbit ear TV antenna has not worked well with being very spotty reception.. I bought a new 75 mile range indoor antenna ($30)... I also found and on a whim bought an ..antenna booster.. ($14) that seems to work just fine.. Will return the $30 antenna... Also scored 3 sets of grocery coupons that came in the mail..

Driving the winter I had to resort to buying Happy Frog potting soil from a garden supply store at $20 a big bag (40-50 libs).

I purchased of Special Mix for $34 a cu yd.

When I pruned my grape vines I poked the viable cuttings in a pot and kept it moist. I pulled 6 rooted plants today. After a year or so they are worth more than $12 a plant. That is $72 worth of grape vines that only cost me dirt, water, rooting hormone and floor space.

Spending the summer topping up for winter. So whenever our Lidl or whoever have their 49c fruit and veg, I pick them up and make the families favorite recipes for the freezer. This week it was a bag of lemons. Made several lemon syrup loaf cakes, and have plans for lemon butter.
Went to stock up on dog food, as I won't have a car for a while. The supermarket had their'good' mince on sale half price so I picked up a few packs. Back home, made spag bol for dinner, two lasagnas and a mince pie for the freezer. Also stopped at a suppliers where my old job used to buy from for the restaurant to check if they still do cash sales. 2kg bag of grated cheddar was about 16 dollars (done up about $4 in two years, so I got it and a 2kg pack of pre cooked bacon. Split them all up and popped them in the freezer.

Picked an complete leather working kit for free.
Got probably 25 pounds of uncut leather in various colors, lacing,tools, anvil,punches,10 pounds of she calls scraps of leather pieces, rivets, snaps,etc for free.
My friend is downsizing.
Pretty sure I will be asking lots of questions about leather working.

I was reflecting on finances today with my wife. It was a good news bad news day for me. I told her the fan that we bought at Ollie's & paid $49 for I saw somewhere else for $79. Not a huge savings but percentage wise it was a rip (plus I love the fan). Then I followed up with the fact that I added it up & we have spent about $4,000 on the house in the last 45 days.

Oh & I went out to the local building supply store last week. I bought a piece of trim for a project. The last time I bought that trim I think it was either $6.99 or $7.99. This time $13.99. Inflation sucks!

Finished running my May numbers - lowest month this year. The last time it was lower than this was last Sept. (when we were eating primarily out of the garden) I am pleased and will see what we can do with June.

I didn't save money today.
I ate out to celebrate being Cancer Free for 4 months now.
My Primary Care and Cancer Doctor encouraged me to do this once in a while.
My PC and CD were very happy with my Labs results.
If they're happy, then so am I.
