One of our neighbors had rabbits. She loved them like we do our dogs and cats. One day, while she was on a weeks vacation, another neighbors dog showed up with this particular black and white rabbit in its mouth, dead and dirty. Well, knowing how much the rabbit was loved and knowing the owner was on vacation, she washed the rabbit, dried it off and brushed its fur pretty and put it back into the cage in the vacationing ladys garden.....
A few days later, she heard screams coming from the neighbors garden, remembered the rabbit, and went to see what was wrong, (knowing she needed to feel sorry for the loss of the rabbit, thinking the lady would believe it had died of old age or something...) Got to the garden of the neighbor and asked quite innocently, "what ever is wrong"
The lady showed her the dead rabbit, crying and sobbing. The guilty feelings of the neighbor got the best of her and she really started to cry with her friend. After a few minutes, she quietly asked, "what do you think happened?"
The answer knocked her out of her shoes: "It died of old age, before I went on vacation, I even buried it in the back field...NOW IT IS BACK IN THE CAGE!!!"
The dog had dug up the dead rabbit....GP
