True story… A church, it had an old men’s corner, to the left of the pulpit, facing the pulpit at right angles to the rest of the pews… Except the old women’s corner, opposite the old men’s corner. They also faced the pulpit.
The entire congregation was standing, singing a hymn. There came a pause in the hymn, everyone went silent…
Except out of the old women’s corner a voice said very loudly “I put butter on mine!” Evidently two old women were discussing a recipe and not paying attention. The entire congregation broke up laughing… I was a little kid an thought this was hysterically funny, still remember it.
