My BIL did that once.
We had gone to the Rez and bought fireworks so we had a bunch of not quite legal stuff.
His box of fireworks was sitting under his lawn chair and he dropped a punk stick in the box.
I never saw him move so fast but he couldn't save the fireworks or the chair.
Alcohol may have been involved.

Five or so of us were sitting around a round table, <4' across, with a pile of bottle rockets in the middle. It looked like we were playing pick-up-sticks. One of the guys would reach in, grab a bottle rocket, and hold the stick gently between his fingers while he lit the fuse. Everything was going along swimmingly until some spare lit one of the rockets on the table. It took off and ignited another which did likewise. Rockets were taking off in every direction and zipping between us. We all froze. After a dozen or so rockets I was the first to wake up and I grabbed the lit one and tossed it as high as I could ending the display. Nobody got hit, nobody got hurt, and over half of the circumference of the table was covered by a body.My BIL did that once.

When people are worried about a cat in a tree I ask them if they have ever seen a dead cat in a tree. NO, well they must get down.
As a Police Officer I had a slightly different option, but no one ever took me up on that offer.
Isn't there a lot of paperwork in that option?
