@zoomzoom @Neb got my 5 gallon bucket of Evapo Rust today. Thanks for your suggestions... that small quart bottle I bought has already paid for its self 3 times over by cleaning tools I'd have thought were hopeless, ready to be replaced. Probably take me all summer to clean up everything in the shop. Heck I really need to start on the tools in the tool box on my truck. Quite a few things in there need a good cleaning and some oil.

Cool.

It is the wrong time of the year since my shop is not heated. Chemistry works slow at low temps.

But I did find a set of 0-6 inch micrometers on sale with a coupon.

If they are junk I will return them.

Those look pretty nice. Most of the reviews were good, but a couple mentioned that theirs were off by a few thousandths. They'd probably just need to be recalibrated before use.
I've got a set similar from my dad. I think they are Starrett.

I do still recommend transferring only what you need out of the 5-gallon bucket so the whole thing doesn't get cruddy.

From reading some of the comments above I believe that a lot of people see the value of not only saving money but also spending money wisely. I'm thinking long ago there was a saying something like "I needed to buy this, but I bought that & saved money (because it was cheaper, on sale or whatever). " Over the years this part (I needed this) dropped out of that saying. I bet we have all known a person or two in our life that didn't look at buying something as spending money IF they got it cheaper for some reason. They look at (& refer to it) as SAVING MONEY. I've known 2 or 3 people like that & sadly one of them was my ex. She (for example) SAVED so much money that we were always broke. Saving & smart spending go hand in hand. Here we mostly talk about saving but we should also talk about smart spending every now & then.

I think (for the most part) I do smart spending.
I like to keep an eye on items I know I will need in the future and find them at today's or sale prices. Pretty rare for things to go down in price over the long haul.
Examples:
Clothing, gloves.
Household maintenance and repair items. I hate having to go to the store when something breaks. Just go get the item(s) off the shelf.
