I've witnessed this same thing many times, myself. That's proof we live among zombies: people who are brain-dead and can't grasp basic spatial relations issues.

I was picking up the youngest son at college. While waiting for him I watch several college students trying to cram a mini fridge into a compact car. Thought it strange why they thought they could magically make a larger object fit into a smaller space no matter how hard they tried. Wished I had driven my truck, bet I could have bought a mini fridge for a song
