The article as written is a bit confusing in that Officers are already taught and train to use "deadly force" only as a last resort. In the article, a county Officer and special prosecutor noted the following:

"Officers already use deadly force only when necessary and are taught to try to defuse dangerous situations first when possible, said Ed Obayashi, a Plumas County sheriff’s deputy and special prosecutor who trains officers and testifies in court on police use of force."

Sounds to me like there splitting hairs.

I'd like to hear what the White Caucus says about this.... oh wait, that is racist and I can't say that. Nevermind...
I wonder what this evolved/devolved into?
I wish them well.

I just thought this thread needed to be updated:
California has some unusual car laws, including:
  • Jumping from a moving car: In Glendale, it's illegal to jump from a moving car, unless it's going less than 65 miles per hour.
  • Housecoat driving: It's illegal for women to drive while wearing a housecoat.
  • Autonomous vehicle speed limit: Autonomous vehicles can't drive faster than 60 miles per hour in California.
  • Peacocks have the right-of-way: In Arcadia, peacocks have the right-of-way to cross the street.
  • No street washing: In Downey, it's illegal to wash your car in the street.
  • No loud music: In Norco, your car's sound system can't be heard outside the vehicle.
  • Stupid motorist law: If you drive on a public street that's flooded and barricaded, you're responsible for any emergency response costs.

Is it just me that feels the legislature of CA watched the documentary Idiocracy and said...

Hold my beer.

?

Ben
I'm still scratching my head over #1?
>In Glendale, it's illegal to jump from a moving car, unless it's going less than 65 miles per hour.
They need a law for that?
If a woman kicks her boyfriends out of a fast-moving car, he gets charged and not her? :dunno:
...Give Darwin a chance! :)

I would have to be desperate to jump at 15 mph.

Note to self...

Call 911 before you jump.

But wait! There's more!!! :ghostly:
California has many unusual laws, including:
  • No moth hunting: It is illegal to hunt moths under street lamps in Los Angeles.
  • Cowboy boots: In Blythe, you can only wear cowboy boots if you own at least two cows.
  • Peacocks: Peacocks are not protected under fish and game laws, but local animal control offices may regulate killing them.
  • Whistling for a canary: Whistling for a lost canary before 7 AM is illegal in Berkeley.
  • Walking an elephant: Elephants are not allowed to walk down Market Street in San Francisco unless they are on a leash.
    • Having too many pets: In San Jose, it is against the law to have more than two cats or dogs.
    • Flying a kite: In Walnut, it is prohibited to fly a kite higher than 10 feet off the ground.
    • Carrying bread: In San Francisco, it is illegal to carry bread, cakes, or pastries in open baskets or exposed containers.
    • Washing a neighbor's car: In Los Angeles, it is illegal to wash a neighbor's car without permission.
    • Silly String: It is illegal to possess, use, sell, or distribute Silly String on public or private property that is accessible to the public.

Until 10 or 15 years ago it wasn't illegal in Ca to have sex with a corpse. No one thought that needed to be in writing. Well now there is a law. A couple idiots broke into a morgue and violated a Grandma. They could only charge them with breaking and entering " the building". The family was beyond pissed off.

No loud music: In Norco, your car's sound system can't be heard outside the vehicle.
this is a good one.
At 1:30 am I hear loud RAP & look out the window, it coming from a truck three houses down from me.
