Three ceasefire violations recorded in Donbas today
Today, April 1, the armed formations of the Russian Federation violated the ceasefire in the Joint Forces Operation area in Donbas already three times.

"As of 7 a.m., April 1, three ceasefire violations by the Russian-occupation troops were recorded. In particular, the enemy opened fire from different grenade launchers and heavy machine guns outside Svitlodarsk (57km north-east of Donetsk) and Zolote-4 (59km west of Luhansk); small arms – outside Novhorodske (35km north of Donetsk)," the press center of the JFO Headquarters informs.
Over the past 24 hours, March 31, the armed formations of the Russian Federation violated the ceasefire in Donbas five times.
In the area of responsibility of the operational and tactical group "East", the occupiers fired different grenade launchers, heavy machine guns and small arms near Pisky (11km north-west of Donetsk) and Vodiane in the Sea of Azov area.
In the area of responsibility of the operational and tactical group "North", the invaders used grenade machine guns, hand-held anti-tank grenade launchers, heavy machine guns and small arms to shell positions of the Armed Forces of Ukraine outside Svitlodarsk, Zolote-4 and Luhanske (59km north-east of Donetsk).
No casualties among Joint Forces personnel were reported.
At the same time, the Ukrainian side of the Joint Control and Coordination Center (JCCC) informs about gross violations committed by the Russian armed forces in the temporarily occupied territory. In particular, after the Trilateral Contact Group meeting, during which the occupiers did not support the peace initiatives of the Ukrainian side, several provocations were carried out along the entire line of contact.
In addition, the occupiers intensified work on hardening the old and arranging new defensive positions.
"These facts indicate that representatives of the Russian-occupation forces continue to violate previously reached agreements," the statement reads.
Ukrainian troops continue to control the situation in the Joint Forces Operation area and adhere to the ceasefire, the Headquarters informs.

U.S. raises watch level in Europe amid deployment of Russian troops to Ukraine border
The U.S. military's European Command has raised its combat readiness to the maximum possible level amid the deployment of Russian troops to the border with Ukraine, according to The New York Times.

"In the past week, the U.S. military's European Command raised its watch level from possible crisis to potential imminent crisis — the highest level — in response to the deployment of the additional Russian troops," the article reads.
European monitors have spotted new weaponry on the Russian-backed side in recent weeks, the report said.
According to an American official, Moscow has sent roughly 4,000 troops to the Ukrainian border.

Frederick B. Hodges, a retired lieutenant general and a former top U.S. Army commander in Europe, said Russia wants to test President Joe Biden's administration.
Commander-in-Chief of the Ukrainian Armed Forces Ruslan Khomchak said at an extraordinary meeting of the Verkhovna Rada on March 30 that Russia deployed 28 battalion tactical groups to the border with Ukraine.

Russia-led forces launch 13 attacks on Ukrainian troops in Donbas
Over the past day, April 1, the armed formations of the Russian Federation violated the ceasefire in the Joint Forces Operation area in Donbas 13 times.

"In the area of responsibility of the operational and tactical group ‘East’, the occupiers fired 82mm and 120mm mortars banned under the Minsk Agreements near Pisky (11km north-west of Donetsk); different grenade launchers and small arms – outside Avdiivka (17km north of Donetsk), Starohnativka (51km south of Donetsk) and Vodiane in the Sea of Azov area," the press center of the JFO Headquarters informs.
In the area of responsibility of the operational and tactical group "North", the invaders used anti-tank missile system towards Ukrainian positions outside Vodiane in Donetsk region; grenade machine guns, hand-held anti-tank grenade launchers, heavy machine guns and small arms were used to shell Ukrainian defenders in the area of Svitlodarsk (57km north-east of Donetsk), Zolote-4 (59km west of Luhansk) and Luhanske (59km north-east of Donetsk).
Ukrainian troops in the suburbs of Shumy (41km north of Donetsk) and Novotoshkivske (53km west of Luhansk) came under grenade machine fire. Two Ukrainian servicemen were wounded. They were promptly taken to a medical facility. Their health status is satisfactory.

Ukrainian defenders opened fire in response to the enemy's shelling.
"The occupiers intensified work on hardening old and arranging new defensive positions. On April 1, engineering works were recorded in a forest plantation near the village of Shumy, where representatives of the armed formations of the Russian Federation built new 90-meter-long defensive structures towards the positions of the Armed Forces of Ukraine," the JFO Headquarters reports.
The Ukrainian side of the Joint Control and Coordination Center (JCCC) informed the OSCE SMM about the violations.

Austin condemns escalations of Russian aggressive actions in eastern Ukraine - Pentagon
U.S. Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin has condemned Russia's aggressive and provocative actions aimed at escalating the armed conflict in eastern Ukraine, the Pentagon has reported, following a phone call between the defense ministers of the United States and Ukraine.

"Secretary Austin reaffirmed unwavering U.S. support for Ukraine's sovereignty, territorial integrity, and Euro-Atlantic aspirations. He condemned recent escalations of Russian aggressive and provocative actions in eastern Ukraine and offered condolences to [Ukrainian Defense] Minister [Andrii] Taran on the deaths of four Ukrainian soldiers on March 26," the report reads.
In addition, Secretary Austin reiterated the U.S. commitment to building the capacity of Ukraine's forces to defend more effectively against Russian aggression.

According to the latest data, Russia is moving troops and military hardware to its border with Ukraine. At the same time, Russian-backed forces in certain districts of Donetsk and Luhansk regions continue to violate the ceasefire.

NATO defense attaches assure Ukraine of support for its territorial integrity
During a meeting with Defense Minister of Ukraine Andriy Taran and the leadership of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, the defense attaches of the United States, Canada and the United Kingdom assured Ukraine of the support in defending its sovereignty and territorial integrity.

"US, Canada’s, and UK Defense Attaches met with Minister of Defense [of Ukraine] Taran, Deputy Minister Petrenko, Deputy Minister Polishchuk, Joint Forces Commander Lieutenant General Naiev, and Colonel Budanov," the U.S. Embassy posted on Twitter.
The Embassy assured Ukraine of support in defending its sovereignty and territorial integrity: "We stand with Ukraine as it defends its sovereignty and territorial integrity and are watching the situation in Ukraine closely."

As reported, President of Ukraine Zelenskyi said on April 1 that the "muscle-flexing" in the format of military exercises and possible provocations along the border was a traditional activity of the Russian Federation, trying to create an atmosphere of threat and pressure during the talks.
