I have about 4 large bags of powered milk for emergencies. I’ve been scared to try it though. Have a feeling it will taste like crap. In an emergency crap is ok, jus not for normal days....

Brent do you like almond milk? My husband likes a glass of milk at night with meds. He switched to almond milk when he went on a diet recently. He lost 75 pound and dropped 2 prescriptions. One of the things he cut out was cows milk. He said the almond tastes better than the powdered and is easily made at home. Almonds store so much easier than milk. We do stock powdered and canned for cooking and such though.

I haven’t tried it before but sounds more appealing than powdered by a long shot.

Does anyone have an idea of how long it might take for stores to get restocked?
I remember we discussed one here once that if there was an emergency that there is about 3 days supply of food in the store.

Stores are mostly cleared out, and trucks are still operating. How much do you think is in warehouses?

If the stock gets depleted from the warehouse? How long might it take to actually get items on the shelves considering the current circumstances we are under?
I would expect issues for the next three months easily. I don’t think stores will be bare, but expect lots of things to be out of stock routinely. The runs on goods is really just starting as the average people are just now realizing this is real....

Walmart gets trucks every night

Down here in Louisiana, its 30 days right now. Some items are completely out for longer.

The store I work for does too, BUT at this time, certain items have been taken out of the ordering because of high demand and instead corporate is going to decide how much each store will be sent of the high demand items. Monday I started seeing the panic buying of TP. When I went back on Thurs, it was just about on everything. I never thought I would see cooking oil and flour totally depleated. This is worse than what we see during a hurricane scare. . . Our store is even talking about shutting down our hand to hand counters, bakery, deli, seafood and meat departments. The prepackaged items in those areas will still be available though. . . Mind you, we do not have even 1 case in our county, or the the next one over, or the next. . . People have gone scared of this and the media does not help one bit!

It’s just that the average citizens are finally catching on to the real possibilities that preppers have always thought about.

Hospitals are allready saying the shortages of PPE is getting to be a real issue. That should take priority over Walmart any day.
I've been hearing stories about people breaking into medical supply places to steal masks and stuff. It really is SHTF all around us. I told my boss we're watching the world end in slow motion.
My husband was telling me more about his adventures of shopping yesterday at a couple of different Walmarts. He said people were there in e middle of the day wearing dress business clothes. Like they had left work to shop. It was odd.
That evening we went to Kroger, It had been hit hard! People not just buying toilet paper and hand sanitizer stuff, but actual food. Lots of empty refrigerated sections of vegetables and other frozen foods severely depleted.
There was a long ( about 12 feet) open refrigerator bay that was filled with chicken. Only 2 left when I got there.
We then went to Tom Thumb ( expensive store that people only go to for 1 or 2 items).
They had stuff, but you could tell plenty of people in there buying things. The shelves were not 100% stocked as they usually are. By the end of Saturday, I bet they will look like Walmart.
Coworkers went shopping last night and today, looking for things we need around the office. At one store they found TP, and a few lysol wipes. But no hand sanitizer. So myself and a couple coworkers are going super early tomorrow morning because we heard from a source that they are getting a shipment in then. Our employees use it a lot working with the elderly so we need to get as much as we can. Fortunately my personal stash is good but I can't share with the whole company.

Just remember too that good old fashioned soap and water is good stuff to. Not always convenient but more effective they say.

Exactly, my husband went to the store tonight (the more expensive store that is usually well stocked and was well stocked last night).
It had been hit hard. Some guy walks in and with great frustration says, “ What the sh$t!” He was mad. Everyone else has been calm and polite, but stocking up. I told my husband, if the stores aren’t stocked by early next week, there will be fights breaking out.

If this thing drags out for three months or more there will be some serious shortages and tempers will flare. Right now the masses are just opening up to the idea that they should be stocking up on supplies. We’ve been talking about this for ages now. Unfortunately it’s becoming all to real now.

I believe it will be bad the rest of this year and through next winter at least. Unfortunately, I have not been wrong yet.

Make soap and water solutions in a spray bottle to wash hands and a water spray to rinse, then use paper towels to dry.
Unfortunately that does not wash hands for 20 seconds, which is what is needed to effectively remove germs from hands with soap and water. High-alcohol hand sanitizers simply dissolve many germs on contact (including coronaviruses).

We are covered, got TP, Hand San, food, water, soap, bleach, rubbing alcohol, paper towels and I just ordered more ammo. Unless there is a major firefight in my future, I am fully prepared. 500+ rounds of 223, 500+ 7.62 x 39, 100+ 6.5 Creedmoor, and 500+ 9mm. Granted this amount of ammo is considered under supplied by some but I will not be out scouting for trouble, it will have to come into my parlor, said the spider. In my case said the scorpion. Got to stick with the desert motif.

there is no point looking for trouble ,,,I will pack a gun most of the time from here on out,I am not concerned so much with inside any store it will be when returning to your car or truck you will be at the greatest risk,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,not a soul is going to lift a finger to help if you are attacked

I would not advise being out after dark in the coming weeks,

I don’t think fear or paranoia is justified just now but agree that being aware of one’s surroundings is always wise. Ccw is too. Hopefully we won’t see this bring out the worst in people. I just hope it dosent drag on for too long.

So my attempts to buy hand sanitizer were not successful. I did get some pictures though.

They were stocking bottled water while I was there. This was all that was out and they have limits.

Fresh chicken and meat. The only things left were a few chicken breast, some fancier steaks/beef, and "beyond meat" type products.

The reality of this is just starting to hit the masses. It’s hard to even imagine the logistics of trying to keep shelves stocked in big cities. All the emergencies I have been through we’re just localized areas. This is the first nationwide, and worldwide one anyone has seen in several lifetimes. I guess world war 2 was the last global thing to affect food distribution on a large scale. I personally don’t believe when our leaders are saying it’s ok and there’s no need for people to stock up. I guarantee they have loaded pantries. I hope I’m wrong and this calms down soon, but am glad I have been preparing for a long time now.

What city is that grocery store in? I’m betting it’s all over now, especially in larger cities.

F*** me. AND its only 24 hours after the American Pres pulled the trigger, A couple of weeks and it will be very nasty. I pity anyone living in cities now.
