another pain is constipation.... if you do have some heavy duty prescription pain meds they can also slow down your system and cause stoppages.

Aye, pretty much All the 'Opiates' are infamous for that.. Some worse than others.. o_O

[...The average price of an albuterol inhaler without insurance is around $98 for an 8.5 gram inhaler.]
So multiply that X15, and subtract $100.

Holy Smackerel! Cheapest I could find (online) was about $40. (plus shipping, etc) Which Still eclipses that One cruise ya listed, but.. $98. each, youch! o_O

US "healthcare" borders on a Criminal Enterprise, really.. (and I don't mean the Docs / Nurses / EMS, etc.. I mean the "Execs" / Industry, as a whole.. 'Big pHarma', etc, etc.. 🤬

Y'all remember that aspirin is an anti-coagulant. So not the best choice for pain relief if you have something that is bleeding internally. You can end up with hemotomas and bruises and swelling that are worse than they would be with Tylenol. Personally, I only use aspirin for headaches. I would not use it for trauma. But often times I use Tylenol for headaches instead.

I could get along without aspirin totally, except for one use. Should someone develop chest pains (possible heart attack) and you are stuck where you are without medical help, I'd pop an aspirin. The blood-thinning characteristic can help with coronary artery blockages.

But then, you would not want to take aspirin for a hemorrhagic stroke (although it would be OK for an occlusive stroke - but you couldn't tell the difference in the field). With a hemorrhagic stroke you're bleeding into your head - you don't want to bleed even more. So for a headache that you suspect might be a stroke, stay away from the aspirin.

I use Tylenol for traumatic injuries (twisted ankle, falling and getting banged up, etc.) Advil or Aleve is my choice for muscular problems (back pain and stuff like that). But everybody is different and different drugs work better or worse on each individual.

I was gonna do Jardiance® but you did a much better job.
One month of Jardiance out of pocket costs us American-sheeple $550-$650. In Mexico, $35.
Will one year's worth get 2 people a 'free cruise'? :dunno:
For the mathematically-impaired:
12 x $600=$7,200 - 12 x $35=$420 = $6,780 for a cruise.
How damfar were you gonna go?!!!

OTC medicines are easy enough but anything that needs a prescription isnt easy to get, over here we cant get get a prescription and store the stuff, unless we actually have something wrong with us and then we have to take the entire treatment. there are plenty of natural anti biotics.

Important.
As someone who takes an 81mg 'baby aspirin' daily, I can vouch for that as fact. :(
You wouldn't think that low of a dose would have much effect on bleeding... WRONG!!!
And the reason I switched from a blade razor to an 'electric shaver' 2 years ago.
Before, if I nicked myself, bleeding would stop in 15 seconds... today it is more like 15 minutes.
I hate to think what would happen if I was bleeding a lot. ...heaven forbid, if somebody gave me even more aspirin to help the pain.:(
They sell a powder that stops bleeding. I bought some for my emergency kit.

I can vouch for that!
When we got off the cruise ship at a port in Mexico, they had several 'pharmacies' at the mall.
If you could pronounce the name of a drug, they would sell you all you wanted, no prescription needed!
Even name-brand 'patent-medicines' for a tiny fraction of we Americans pay out the wazoo for.
Some fellow cruisers admitted that they saved more than enough money to pay for their cruise.
Book your 'free' cruise today!:D
My hub and I flew to CA a few years ago and were having lunch in an outdoor restaurant. We got to chatting with these nice Mexican guys at the table next to us and I mentioned that I wanted to go to Mexico. One guy's eyes grew as big as saucers and he said "Don't go there! They'll take you!" I said "What do you mean?" He repeated "They'll take you!" So we listened to their warning and didn't go into Mexico. However, the woman who owned the rental we stayed in said that her husband went to Mexico to get inexpensive dental work.

We as a society are wusses. I am no super human, but pain isn’t necessarily a bad thing. No it’s not fun, but it keeps you from doing things you shouldn’t be doing when your body is trying to repair itself. en
I have aspirin and ibuprofen (& tequila). Speaking for myself: I would rather concentrate on what is causing the pain than masking the result of the issue.
I live with daily pain and wouldn't necessarily call myself a 'wuss.' Well, maybe I can...but I'm talking about severe pain - pain so bad that you grit your teeth and they crack. That's what happened to me when I was cut open and left without pain relief. The pain was excruciating - so bad that I began thinking of ways to escape it. I don't think that I have to spell this out... but I came close to choosing that option. I endured a lot of pain over a 10+ year period. I didn't realize that I was gritting my teeth from it and I cracked a number of my teeth it was so bad. There was a woman in our pain group whose husband killed himself after the doctor stopped prescribing him pain relief. He went out into the woods and shot himself in the head. People don't realize how dangerous untreated pain is.

I do recommend that we all try to get a hold of something stronger than ibuprofen. I'm having a difficult time as I don't know how to obtain it unless I try an online pharmacy. I did order an expensive medication one time from overseas and I got it. I took it and it worked so that one was okay. It was about 7 years ago so I don't even remember the name of the pharmacy. But people have bought from overseas pharmacies. I know that you're taking a risk though but the other risk of untreated pain is equally as dangerous. I just think that we need to have this conversation. If you've never had severe pain then you may not understand it. People in my pain group were angry that doctors that never experienced severe pain treated them as cowards and why didn't they just 'suck it up.' Unless you've endured very severe pain you may not understand. I am just looking at those poor folks in NC and I knew that some of them were the recipients of high levels of pain. When I saw how that water twisted metal beams I couldn't believe it. Now imagine having powerful water rushing at you in your house and items becoming dangerous projectiles. It all just made me think that our medical kits aren't complete without pain relief.

some other things i like to keep on hand and use for physical aches and pains like muscle pain, arthritis, strains, swelling. i like having a variety of options. i aint getting any younger. i can run out of lotions, pills, etc, but the magnets will never run out.

absorbine jr - vet versiuon--same as human. i put in roll on applicator

DMSO - i put this in a roll on also

lidocane gel or roll on--these are also real good that can help alot

-these things are excellent. you can get pads you can put on back, neck, arm, cheat, alsp can get spot magnets to tape on somewhere. got some foot pain? tape a couple spot magnets on, works great.

i tripped and fell and messed my knee up. so i taped on a couple of the spot magnets, swelling is reduced and pain is reduced. ive used such things for many years and rely on them alot. the brand and gauss strength is the key as there is cheap crap out that that doesnt do much.
my favs proven over the years. you got foot pain? you can get foot pads that help me alot.

one of my favorite brands i go to is promagnet.com
I just bought DMSO! Does it work? I haven't tried it yet. I haven't tried magnets either but heck I'll try them. I fell and messed my knee up too. I had an infection that lowered my BP and fell hard on my knee. Now I have bad arthritis in it. Very bad. Been taking boron a friend recommended but it hasn't worked yet. I have a bakers cyst now too.

Those Salonpas patches work good too for pain you can get to.

They can feel free to spank us for dragging the thread off topic, but us Americans are being beaten like a redheaded stepchild .
I'll add the missing facts for SoJer's post for people that can do math:

So multiply that X15, and subtract $100.
Then ask yourself: how much does a 3-day cruise to Cozumel for 2 people (with free food and entertainment:D) cost?
Is it 'free' with just that?
I think that we have to realize that we are under attack - in every way possible.

FYI, “hospital strength’ ibuprofen is 800 mg. As with anything don’t take it all the time.

I second the Excedrin type pills that mix Acetaminophen, aspirin and caffeine, if you can have those. I normally don’t take anything and just put up with the old age joint pain but if there is something else going on I have a supply of OTC’s to try and help.

Remember, when the pandemic started those were on the hard-to-find list.

We have OTC, ibuprofen from doctor, (they always give too much & I do not take more than I have to),
We have pain gel & a few contact creams & Arnica pills.

arnica works very nice too, gel or oil to rub on. moringa ca[sules for pain like arthritis is pretty good. ive got fibro and use it at times.
ive used some homeopathics over the years and find them very helpful also.
i tend to rotate things that help me to avoid building up a tolerence

DMSO does work--follow the direction to dilute is you got a bottle of full strength and make sure skin is very clean before applying.
I'm going to try it later. The arthritis in my knee has me flat on my back today with ice packs. I saw that you could order the cream or the liquid. I bought the liquid but now I think that I probably should have ordered the cream instead because it will cling to the skin better. I sure hope it works.

i hope you can find the relief you need. pain like that aint fun. there are DMSO products in cream and lotion like you said--ive not tried those nbut know people who are happy with them.
think about some spot magnets--i have 3 taped on my knee around the knee cap and its made a huge difference especially in being abled to sleep. i just leave them on 24/7.
theres also magnet compression knee sleeve--some like that. i prefer the spot magnets, more powerful and i can use them anywhere.

Anyone study or use these plant as a substitute for pain killer or grow them?
Herbs for Natural Pain Relief
WHITE WILLOW BARK
Containing an aspirin-like compound known as salicin, white willow bark has been used for centuries as a natural remedy for inflammation and pain.
DEVIL'S CLAW
Traditionally used for rheumatoid arthritis, the South African herb devil's claw may also soothe pain resulting from osteoarthritis, tendonitis, and back and neck troubles, according to proponents. Seed pods use in dried arrangements, get seeds on line.
BROMELAIN
Bromelain reduces levels of hormones in the body that control inflammation. These hormones, known as prostaglandins, initiate inflammation and keep it going.
Bromelain is extracted from the stems of pineapples. While the meat of the pineapple does contain a small amount of bromelain, it isn't enough to be medicinally helpful. Usually, it's offered as a pill or tablet to people with inflammation or infection.
TURMERIC
Another popular ayurvedic spice, turmeric contains an antioxidant compound called curcumin.
Curcumin has been shown to reduce pain by acting on the nervous system. Animal-based studies have also shown some preliminary evidence that the spice could control inflammatory proteins called cytokines.8 When cytokines are not under control, a condition known as a cytokine storm syndrome can occur. This is associated with serious illness and inflammation.

While sipping ginger tea can help relieve cold-related congestion, supplementing with ginger may help to ease the pain. Research indicates that ginger may calm arthritis pain, possibly by lowering your prostaglandin levels.
GINGER
One 2015 study even suggests that ginger could reduce pain and inflammation as effectively as non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (such as aspirin), although more further research is still needed.

White willow bark, turmeric, and ginger contain natural blood-thinning compounds, so people taking many common medications and supplements and those about to undergo surgery should be careful and discuss these supplements with their doctors.

I grow pineapples & Ginger, I should get a white willow tree & Devil claw seeds.
This list is not near all the plants & it is for when & if you run out of meds.
PEANUT, it is your turn.

I've heard about magnets for pain but have never tried them. I'm really surprised at how painful arthritis in the knee is. I fell on this knee several years back and it never went back to normal. Now years later I developed arthritis in it. I've been in bed all day with ice packs my poor hubby has had to keep getting.

I didn't get to the DMSO today so I'm trying it tomorrow. I hope it works.

My hub and I flew to CA a few years ago...I mentioned that I wanted to go to Mexico. One guy...said "Don't go there! They'll take you!" ...So we listened .. didn't go into Mexico.
Well.. Just like Many places in CA (and just about Every-State in the Union, really..) there's 'places you Go - and places you Don't Go' - Period. 'Los Algodones' (near where We live) is Excellent for All manner of Dental and Many Medical procedures, and it's Safer than Most cities in the US.. Safer than Phoenix, tell ya That much! (and we're a few hundred miles from Phx..) But - Other cities, ie: Juarez, Nogales, etc, yah.. Best not to Go, unless ya bring a Personal Army with ya.. ;)

I just bought DMSO! Does it work?

Yes, but BE CAREFUL with DMSO - It will 'drag-in' just about Anything else that is soluble in it (which is a Lot of things..) Into your skin / eventually bloodstream (it was Originally designed as a Solvent - not a "medicine", but later, Yes, used for Drugs / Meds to be absorbed 'transdermally', because of How easily / well it Is absorbed by the skin..)

I know this 'doesn't Apply to ya', but Take the Point of it to heart: Few years back, a 'Laser Hobbiest' Buddy of mine got a 'Dye Laser' (it causes Laser light to be produced from a very concentrated Liquid Dye) - that is Super toxic, if ingested. Of Course, he was Very Careful to 'wear gloves' / Face-PPE, etc so as to Not have Any chance of it 'getting in his Mouth'.. But...

He absentmindedly spilled some of the Dye on his Pant-leg when transferring it into an external container to filter it, etc, and Even though only a small 'splash' got on his jeans (less than an Oz... Within 12 hrs, he was Fighting for his Life in the ICU from Acute Liver failure - Because the 'carrier' / solvent was DMSO, and it 'dragged' the Dye right into his skin / bloodstream and System. o_O Nearly killed 'im.

To be Clear - it Was Not "the DMSO" - it was the Dye that systemically-intoxicated him, but.. Makes my Point - Just be Careful using it / what you Mix with it. 👍

Pain relief has been something I've been helping my daughter with since her foot surgery about a month ago. Since its not easy for her to get around, I've been doing shopping for her, including food and pain medications.

We know someone who had a hysterectomy a couple years ago, and the pain medications she was sent home with, created an affect that she didn't like. This was also true for my daughter. Friend tried alternatives, marijuana products and mushrooms, which are decriminalized in Colorado. Friend said that mushrooms were the best for her pain.

I've never been exposed to many "drugs," including mushrooms. They are dried, powdered and put into capsules. Someone we know grows them. He has been to meals with us and has passed Altoid tins with capsules and told us to take some. I never have because things like alcohol and other things just knock me out. But evidently it is more than a recreational thing. It is good as a medicinal for pain and other things.

I posted the information below about how they are dispersed now. They can be administered by a professional, but cannot just be purchased in a shop somewhere.

I know a man who was in treatment at the VA for PTSD. Mushrooms was one thing that his therapist encouraged for him, and he said it was helpful.

If you live in a state that has legalized marijuana, there are some products that have been developed for pain relief. Colorado has 100's of shops, and there are new products being developed. Different strains of marijuana have different effects. There are salves for pain relief. Different products work for different things. Some are just CBD and have no THC. Some do have THC.

There is a company, RIPPLE, that has powders for pain relief and a few other things. https://tryripple.com/products/ripple

https://kdvr.com/news/politics/colorado-politics-news/colorado-finalizes-rules-for-magic-mushrooms/

DENVER (KDVR) — Rules surrounding the use of psilocybin, more commonly known as magic mushrooms, are now in place in Colorado.

The administering of magic mushrooms from healing centers is not set to take place in Colorado until 2025, but the state made headway when it comes to getting rules in place for the medicine — finalizing them late last week. Tasia Poinsatte is the Colorado director of the Healing Advocacy Fund. The group helped Oregon get its psilocybin program off the ground four years ago. Now, Poinsatte is closely watching and weighing in on Colorado’s process as they get ready for next year. To recap, Colorado’s format will not allow patients to take the products home. Instead, licensed facilitators will administer the treatments at healing centers,

“The state has actually set minimum sessions based on the dosage of psilocybin. So, no session in Colorado under the current rules would be shorter than three hours. They might be up to five or six,” Poinsatte said. “I really think they’ve met the mark and that we’re going to have a really strong program.”

In the final rules, the state defines a single serving as 10 mg of psilocybin, edibles can have up to 50 mg. The state will also allow the healing centers to operate at facilities that house other health care centers.

“We want to allow as many of the options as possible for psychedelic therapies to be integrated within our mental health and health care system. And part of what that means is allowing these sessions to take place at locations like clinics, addiction treatment centers and therapist offices where people are already receiving mental health care,” Poinsatte said.

The state will also allow the medicine to be administered in the form of gummies or chocolates, along with teas, tinctures and capsules.

Some groups, like One Chance to Grow Up, were concerned about children getting a hold of the products; specifically, they were worried about facilitators’ ability to take the products outside of healing centers for administration.

Sign up for the FOX31 Denver Guide weekly newsletter for events and activities
In a statement, the group’s director said she is disappointed in the final rulemaking, saying:

We are disappointed that the final rulemaking on psilocybin left the language allowing for products to come in chocolate and gummy form intact.

Colorado must have a thoughtful regulatory framework for psychedelics that provides protections for kids. That is our only focus. While the labeling requirements prohibiting imagery and colors that may appeal to children is a good start, we still have concerns. Proposition 122 allowed for the ‘administration’ of psychedelics outside of a healing center by a facilitator opening the door for access to this powerful drug. Over 125 concerned citizens expressed their concerns by way of petition, but their concerns were not heard by the regulators.

When it comes to marijuana, we’ve seen the surge of accidental ingestions of candy-like edibles by kids. It appears that we’ll have to learn these same lessons over again when it comes to psychedelic drugs, but with even higher stakes for kids. The safety of kids is more important than the taste preferences of adults. If this is to be treated as medicine, let’s treat it like other medicine that is not provided in kid-friendly flavors that could lead to accidental ingestion.”

Advocates like Poinsatte appreciate the concern for child safety but they note the state did specify that packaging cannot appeal to children in the final rules. The state is looking to lay out licensing and application fees for administrators next.

I didn't think of one city in Mexico as being more dangerous than the other but you have a point: there are cities in the U.S. that I wouldn't step foot in.

OMG that's some story about your friend. I will make sure that I not have anything nearby when I use DMSO. I never heard of anything carrying a substance into the bloodstream like that.

Same here, Lonewolf, unless you go to Mexico or to a feed store. But in some cases you can get a few things on line.
I dont tend to take too many painkillers, if I take 6 tablets per year thats about my limit and I have only taken 2 courses of anti biotics in a long lifetime. I dont fancy taking fish biotics .

A guy in my pain group used to follow all the studies and found that THC wasn't effective for pain. My husband got some for me and it didn't work for pain but it does relax you. The relaxation part is probably good because sometimes you begin to fear pain's onset and I think that it makes it worse. But that's interesting about mushrooms.
