Yep. Down here in Louisiana, we don't have 'counties', we have Parishes:
Louisiana is divided into 64 parishes, which are similar to counties in other states:
Acadia Parish, Allen Parish, Ascension Parish, Assumption Parish, Avoyelles Parish, Beauregard Parish, Bienville Parish, Bossier Parish, Caddo Parish, and Calcasieu Parish.... . The term "parish" became accepted in Louisiana place names because the French and Spanish ruled the area when the church and state were entwined. The parish was both the seat of religious control and came to be accepted as a civil boundary.

That seems low for Kansas/Ohio/penn. If it's an Amish wedding, it costs a fortune. My fav cousin was over today...her grandson was just married in Ohio. 700 guests. The meal night before for a few hundred, ditto breakfast, sit down chicken dinner after the wedding for the noon meal (and all the fixings), Later dinner for half that on wedding night. Next day a few hundred three meals. That's just the food.

It's more like hosting a massive family reuinion. Amish come from many states. The bride and groom make out real well gift wise. My favorite cousin could not believe the gifts given. It obviously used to not be that way of course. Weddings were smaller, people could not travel state to state often. I know the food is expensive, but the bride to be chooses her cooks in advance...usually asks a dz people for a wedding that size. This wedding had lots of aunts of the bride that I hear were all the cooks. Water pourers, ushers, table setters...all these "jobs" are given to family members. Not paid people. And it's held on the family farm. The bride sews her own dress, and the bridesmaids do the same, usually all in the same color, not white. The bride and good have a pre party they put on for their attendees and give them gifts as well...wine, good chocolate...
Husband and I had a pretty decent wedding, a little fancy, but not that fancy, and we paid for it ourselves, but bought the house first.
