Zooming in a little, this is current traffic in the NYC to Wash DC area.
NYC is top right, DC is bottom left.

Charlotte, NC isn't on this map. We opted for Charlotte rather than O'Hare on our trip from OKC to Rochester, NY last week. After that experience (and our experience with Charlotte when we went to Baltimore in May) we might cross Charlotte off of our go-through list. What a busy little airport!

Charlotte is small compared to O'Hare or Baltimore. I've been to Charlotte airport over 150 times and would definitely take it over Chicago or Baltimore.

Here's Charlotte right now. The planes that are grey are on the ground. That's not very busy.

We left from the Will Rogers airport in OKC.......nicely small. We ended up in Rochester, NY ... also nicely small.

The only smaller airports I've lived next to were the airport in Anchorage........ and the airport in Groton, CT. Groton airport was like the airport on the sitcom Wings. I loved that one, but the planes there (at that time) didn't have wheels that retracted and the sound inside the plane was huge. From the back row of seating I could see the pilot's instrument panel. Eek.

I can Gyro for Jersey--there are an insane number of Greek owned diners here. The search probably has a lot to do with the pronunciation. Is it J-I-R-O or is it G-H-E-R-O
The Greeks here in Canada pronounce it hero (you know, like "you're my hero"). No J or G sound, just the H sound.
