Moved outta the RV park yesterday and on to our land, did it a week earlier because of the rain. Just in time today too, it’s pouring!

My guitar came with nickle plated Grover Tuners, great tuners, very fine control. I replaced them with the same milk bottle tuners about a decade later. But with the gold plated version just for the appearance, a little bling. Most of the gold plating is worn off the buttons now (part I touch while tuning).

I went searching the other night. I'll be darned, someone still makes Grover milk bottle tuners. They even have the gold plated ones. Little out of my price range so if someone is feeling generous this holiday... 😁

More music related pics… Was checking a used instrument shop in Nashville, just their website. I found this...

A pre-ww2 F-5 Gibson mandolin is the "gold standard" among mandolin pickers. Every serious picker I’ve met in my life wanted one.

Prices for a prewar F-5 start around $30K and go as high as $70K. An old friend has one, beautiful sound. I lack the words to describe it… I’m just glad I got to play it a few times.

These mandolins were designed by a man named Lloyd Loar. In 1923 – 24 he signed some of the first mandolins he built. These bring the big bucks. There are a few for sale in Nashville today, prices start at $140,000.00. (Bill Monroe played a '24 signed Lloyd Loar mandolin)

Lloyd Allayre Loar (1886-1943) was an American musician, instrument designer and sound engineer. He is best known for his design work with the Gibson Mandolin-Guitar Mfg. Co. Ltd. in the early 20th century. His designs include the F-5 model mandolin and L-5 guitar.

His designs are still being used and F-5 mandolins can still be purchased. You can buy a recent F-5 for around $6000.

This is a 1924, Lloyd Loar signed, F-5 mandolin. Not currently for sale... at any price.

Has it been cold over that way? I didn’t figure we would have much color since it has been so dry. We are getting a good rain right now but it seems like it’s been months since we have had any rain,
We've had a couple weeks down in the 30's. Leaves turned quickly once that started.
We have been short on rain for last 3 months, around 1/3 of normal or less
