In Guam they built their houses on stone pillars called latte stones. Seems that would make sense for houses in flood prone areas. I suppose there is concern that higher houses might get blown away or picked up more easily, but flooding is no good either. Not building in a flooding area would be wiser. I remember a story about some natives who told the new settlers not to build down by this one lake because it was "cursed" & anyone who built there died. The newbies laughed at them and completely ignored it. Built their village close to the lake. A cloud of toxic gases rose out of the water and wiped them all out.
Some of the scratches I got from when my cats had their fight on top of me. Looks like one of them actually bit me.
I've had worse though. My other leg has some fainter older scratches all over. Looks like they used my leg as a scratching post but it doesn't show up well in pictures.
