Our last trip to San Francisco, before sidewalks were allowed to be public toilets and homeless had completely destroyed this once beautiful spot.

Nice shot of Avalon Harbor on Catalina Island (full name: Santa Catalina)... definitely a tourist trap, but a nice tourist trap, lol. Dunno how crowded it is now, maybe the Covid hoax thinned the number of visitors. 😒

Shame about Frisco, I had a good time there back in the early '80s... but like Backlash says, you couldn't pay me enough to go there now, pfffffft. What a disgrace... it used to be the most cosmopolitan city on the West Coast. :(

@Wingnut I've been to the channel islands many times fishing but never got to see Catalina. I would like to have seen it at night from the sea. I've heard its memorable. I always liked seeing cities at night from the ocean. The navy let me see 4 continents and some amazing sights.

But the first big city I saw at night was Galvaston Tx as a civilian (oil industry, 100ton boat). The ocean was like glass that night, lights everywhere, a city of about 200K back then. It looked amazing to me. A big harbor, ship traffic. I'd never seen anything like it.

The bed I got for my friend's daughter (it has since had a mattress added)

This was a birch-bark 'Treasure Map', I made for my ~ 4 / 7 yo Boys, back when we used to camp / cottage up in Canada, way-back when still living in Upstate Rottenchester.. Coffee to 'stain' / tint / highlight, and a Nib-pen / ink for the 'markings' (and some Sharpie to clean-up detail that got washed out..

(PS - here was the "Treasure Chest" I made up for the 'hunt'...

..With a Giant (like ~200 ct) crystal "Diamond" on a bed of black-velvet inside, and some Other precious-stones (turquoise / amethyst-xtals / Herkimer diamonds / tourmaline, etc) replica gold coins / pyrite nuggets, etc.. They Flipped out, and Every-bit as much as I'd Hoped. 😍

I bet they had a blast. We'd do a pirate week every summer at our school. I'd make a map for each class, and give them a shovel. Fun times.
The Princess set up an adventure for the girls that stated with a Teddy Bear picnic with adventurous goals to follow. Good clean fun.

Some photos from Foxford Woolen mill in the west of Ireland. Founded in 1892, 30 odd years after a famine, in an area with some of the harshest weather and ground, to offer work to the locals.https://foxford.com/our-story/
