What kind of snake?

It was what we call a bull snake. It came out from under the deck while we were taking a break. They behave similar to a rattler, but not poisonous. They eat rattlesnakes, so they are good to have around.

It's been known for centuries that certain spirits make a great vehicle for delivering some medicinal tinctures. Not many but a few. Cognac is the traditional vehicle of choice. Now I guess I'm going to have to research single barrel bourbon.

The mountain lion was caught on a trail camera about 1/4 mile from my survival grounds . This picture was recovered from the camera just a few days ago . The cat lives in a cave a short distance from where the photo was taken . We have known for years the cat lived in the cave . For the curious this photo was taken in central Ozarks . --- I just learned how to post pictures on this forum today so guys get ready for a deluge of photos .

The cat in my above photo may be prowling near my home tonight . A couple of the tribe's dogs were going crazy , wouldn't shut up . I eventually got up to investigate . Whatever it was retreated back toward the big cat's cave . I will try again to get a little sleep .

The third clutch in my blue bird nest box. If these hatch and fledge as all my others this year did, it will be a total of 16 chicks.

Seeing blue birds and indigo buntings is always a treat. I forgot about them on the friday fives thread. The blue is always such a surprise, which is not actually blue because birds do not have blue pigment. It looks blue because of the way light waves interact with the protein molecules. what. yeah. Blue is a structural color. Here:

Weirdest thing I have ever seen!! No foot tall weeds and all the hoods are shut!! We have a favorite junk yard we haven't had to go to lately (luckily)! Hundreds of acres of vehicles, you pull your own small parts! I love looking through the vehicles while Hubby is part pulling, it's amazing what gets left in them! Cars get hauled to these places after a wreck and everything is still in them!

When folks in the neighborhood get a snake stuck in the garage door mechanism, who do they call?

A very unhappy non-venomous rat snake. (I still bled when she bit me lol). We got her out and relocated safely.

I was thrilled beyond belief when I saw a painted bunting at my feeder last summer. I never imagined I see one in real life. Amazing colors.
