I spent a lovely afternoon here with a friend in July. I had always wanted to go here and it was only about 20 minutes from my home.

@WVDragonlady I hope you have lots more bags of bell peppers (capsicums to us) to put up in your freezer. We use a mound of them here over the course of the year and are almost out but should be able to plant more once the frosts subside here in a couple of weeks. It has been hard with the drought to try and stay within our water restriction limits and have water for the house but we are getting there and are running a few less garden beds. We are fortunate we put in rain water tanks and that water we can use to supplement water new vegetable seedlings that are planted until they are larger.

Hobo Supervising! I don't know if it was just my cats, but they all liked to be in the kitchen when I was canning. Maybe because it go so warm or maybe because anything involving food was a good idea to them.

Well, I may not live in the country any longer, but I have scouted out a few areas around my apartment building to find that solitude that I so need from time to time. It may be not in a forest, but there is a park across the street and I found these awesome flowers that brought tears to my eyes yesterday. I miss the nature of my forest.

Here is what we accomplished yesterday was 1 cubic metre of Ironbark firewood we cut from a friends farm free of charge. Another trailer or trailer and a half and we will have all the firewood we need for next winter ready to go. Think we underestimated what we would use this winter but have a better idea now of usage, we live and learn and all good practice for when we buy our own home a fair way out of town.

Yes that is a cat in the trailer Tabatha the newly adopted stray has to check everything out as it comes into the house and jumped and climbed in there herself which isn't bad for a midget small cat that she is :) .

@katlupe those flowers are beautiful and it is wonderful when we reach a stage in life where we can take time to admire the beauty of nature around us.

Whilst cutting the firewood we took homemade chocolate chip and coconut biscuits with us and admired the kangaroos and bees all around us in the country.

Wood boards and Cardboard boxes block the entrance to a Walmart store in Kill Devil Hills in the Outer Banks of North Carolina in prep for Hurricane Florence.

Walmart closed all their stores in the hurricane's path as soon as the governor issued a mandatory evacuation order.
People were highly ticked off.
I guess the unprepared people think they are more important than the Walmart employs and their families.

Holey moley!! That is a gimongus bear

Could be fairly large but the camera perspective has been changed in the two photos which in my opinion makes the bear seem larger than it actually is.

What are those barrels? To keep food in and away from bears? If so, he knows it's in there

I suspect bait feeders either for the purpose of getting animals there for photos or more likely for future hunting. Bear definitely knows there’s food there for sure though.
