Woke up early this morning, Alexandra was hogging the bed. I hit the road before day light and sat on the slab on Bear Creek and watched the sun come up.

It was a good day fishing.
The 2 of us caught over 100 smallmouth bass, kept 23 for supper and the freezer.
N0 restrictions on size or number in the Columbia River.

I love the old school hardware stores. I'll hit one up most anytime I find one. Folks ask me what I did on vacation, sometimes I answer went to a hardware store. Sometimes i'm amazed some of the stuff you run across

Me too BacP. I still remember one named Coleman Country Store, it had creaky wood floors and all kinds of neat things in it.

My shop is at least a 100 yards from the house. I can roll down the hill a bit and she won't miss me until she wakes up. I'm the early morning type person and she's a night owl, ive got it figured out now.

Every year we had barn swallows nesting on our porch.
I put up netting to keep them out and this year I haven't even seen one. Not just on the porch but I haven't seen one anywhere. Wonder where they went.

They eat a ton of mosquitos ... actually they eat their weigh5 in insects, mostly mosquitoes daily. Around here we like to encourage them and purple martins. Yes they can make a bit of a mess but the insect control makes them worthwhile.

We don't have mosquitoes. They make a very real mess. They have hundreds of other nesting options nearby. But not on my house.

They also carry mites and getting rid of the mites can be very difficult. I just did not want them crapping near my front door. They are Barn Swallows so go to the barn.

I forgot about your altitude, so them pesky skeeters wouldn’t be a problem for you. We have at least 20 species of skeeters here.

There is nothing quite so touching as looking off towards the mountains as the sunset and seeing a mosquito flying away with a small child under each wing for dinner. Well, maybe not quite that big but we do get some nasty ones. One of the reasons this area was late getting settled was the abundance of them. The levels have diminished over the years so most of the time they are just a nuisance, but if you get out into a wet low area they will do their utmost to eat you alive.

A kid up the road painted them for me, he is so talented its all free hand. It takes him forever to do anything, I'd bet he smoked a 1/4 pot trying to get it done it's kind of a shame to waste that sort of talent.

Ansel Adams is far and away my favorite photographer. I have a couple of his pics hung in the house. His B&W photography has never been equaled IMO. Thank you for posting this one.

Tent no. But the old house is on our property. I believe it would have been the "neighbors" many years ago, but then my family bought them out at some point and the house was left empty. I always joke that it's my backup bug out location. Most of the pics I have been posting here were taken by my daughter, who is our amateur photographer.

I like old houses and that one is neat. I didn't think you were the tent type thats why I ask.

I have a couple really nice tents that I use regularly. But not without a sleeping pad. I'm not 21 anymore.

Oh thats cool I didn't picture you in a tent. We have several tents one for the dogs only they are good campers and learned not to touch the walls or zipper.
