This old cabinet hung above the washer in the laundry rm for the past 50yrs. It was pretty grungy, had stains. I thought it was cedar, looked red. Must have been the way it aged. When I sanded it I realized it was just pine.

I think my grandpa built it. It’s put together with peculiar nails he always used for stuff like this. Anyway, it’s rough, not fine furniture by any means. The wood has split in a couple places so I glued those up. It’ll do for holding laundry soap and clothes pins so I’ll hang it back above the washer.

I put a coat of poly on it this afternoon. The wood is so dry it’ll take a couple more coats. It soaks up the poly as fast as I put it on.
