I was a young man back then, young and foolish, didn't think further than my nose, a smart kid would have taken a job in the army and gotten out after 25 yrs with full pension, I knew nothing then, prolly know nothing now,but it is what it is..

My preferred method of Warfare . A Sniper is a force multiplier and the eyes and ears on the Battlefield . Nothing cowardly about being on the frontlines without backup or reserve . Quite the opposite .
Thats My main long range rifle . I have others for different applications .
maybe these are also normal, like snipers?Nothing wrong with snipers, no different than using artillery
Depends on how snipers are trained and used. If they indiscriminately kill people from a place of safety, then yes they are cowardly.
But well trained snipers that go after high value targets far behind enemy lines, in the open, with very little cover, and no immediate support are courageous in the extreme.
And just so you don't misunderstand
you say that in Afghanistan a sniper behaves like a scout, but does not kill soldiers? They have a place on the battlefield too, as scouts, covering troop withdrawal, etc.
And it depends on what kind of battlefield you are talking about. Afghanistan for example has a lot of long range engagements where almost every soldier in an engagement is acting like a sniper, on both sides.
The US doesn't control territory in Afghanistan, the Afghan government does and we assist them. We have no desire to control territory, and we really don't even want to be there. We would leave if the Taliban would behave.By the way, how much territory do American troops control in Afghanistan?
5 or 10 percent?
Are snipers helping you?
please give information and link.
I prefer National Interest or CIA but not other links.
