I want to strangle a dog from about a mile away that hangs out at my neighbour's and trots down to ours every hour or so to fight with my mutts through the fence, causing an almighty racket. He then trots off, leaving mine barking and howling in frustration. I've never disliked a dog so much. I went walking in Oct and told my neighbour's tiny dog to go home when he started following me. This other dog- who is quite large, a cross between a pointer and a lab I would think, came at me. So I grabbed a stick for the journey back- the one day there were no cars passing- and he came back out at me. I held the stick at the back of my legs and he growled and barked at me until I reached my property, his face bopping of the stick the whole way behind my knees. I had a fair job not letting on how scared I was, I can tell you. I haven't gone walking since.
I know who owns it, and there is a bit of a problem in the family. I believe the dog belongs to one of the kids, so didn't want to ring the dog warden, bit it's getting ridiculous now. I used to walk up to my neighbour in the dark it's so safe around here, now even in the daytime I drive up in case the dog is there- and it's not even hers!

PEPPER SPRAY! Not nice, but won't kill the dog. The owners WILL put the dog up after that!!

No I've been bitten, once as a child on the eye, and twice as a vet nurse in another life. I don't think I can get bear spray in Ireland! But Pepper spry, that would be something, if I can get close enough to him through the fence. In London during the week a 26 yr old female dog walker was out with 8 dogs of all sizes down to dachshund. One of the big dogs bit a passerby, also with a dog, then turned on their dog walker, attacked and killed her. Very sad, and shocking.

I hate when I see people getting ripped off. Last night I was pricing guitar strings on the internet. Later I was just browsing guitars, checking prices out of curiosity. Different sites, different makers. I’m not in the market.

I found this, a Taylor acoustic being sold for $5,999.00, I played the same model in Nashville at Gruhn’s just a few weeks ago. Last November in fact, the price was $5300. If I’d offered the man $5K in cash I have no doubt I could have walked out the door with it.

This particular guitar model is worth about $5K retail. It’s a great guitar but its not a $6K guitar. Yet that’s what a music store in Indiana is charging, a rip off! Even worse is the financing… you know they’re getting 18-22% interest. It’d take years to pay it off. Grumble, grumble… my windmill of the day.

My pic laid over the website...

Every year K's company gives the employees a $50 grocery giftcard for the holidays. Normally it is enough to help with the Thanksgiving meal costs. This year we didn't get it until right before Christmas Eve and only after K asked them multiple times where it was. (They had emailed asking which store employees wanted the card for before Halloween!)

Well, we finally got to the store to use the card. Not a store we have near us so it is always a half day trip. We did our shopping and figured we'd see how far it would take us for new food storage.

We spent $53.87 (only paid the $3.87 after the giftcard) and walked out with a 12 lb turkey, 3 lbs of chicken breasts, 2 lbs of bacon and a dozen eggs.

NO F*CKING JOKE!

I grew up in a time that physical discipline was accepted. I remember when I was in 3rd Grade, Dr. Erickson, the Principal, had a size # 15 white tennis shoe hanging on the wall above his desk. And yes, I once was the recipient of this tennis shoe on my butt.
I remember getting slapped so hard by the teacher in elementary school that I fell off my seat. But...I threw a book at her first so sort of justified
( this was in Germany). They made it illegal when I was in 6th grade. I remember it clearly, everyone made a big deal about it

Happened to me too, I got a certificate for a honey baked ham as a christmas bonus one year. The nearest store was 300miles away, they didn't ship in those days. :(

Ain't it nice when they make a new rule, just because of you?
I celebrated my 2A rights every Friday-13th by wearing my piece open-carry at work.
My thought was, if some guy picked Friday-13th to rob a convenience store, and on that day I happened to be there, it would be his 'bad-luck'.
My new boss spotted me and said: "You know that is against company rules, right?"gaah
(Being a former supervisor, we were required to know every word in the "employee handbook").
I told him: "That is not in the employee handbook".
He read it cover-to-cover and magically, 3 weeks later, they were making everybody sign for their new 'employee handbook'.
Every employee, in 9 branches, in 9 cities, in 4 states, just because of one AH.
It was identical to the old one... except for one "Super" paragraph.😀

At a hospital I worked at they sent out an email telling all employs they would be getting a turkey for Thanksgiving.
People started replying to the email and since it was a mass email to all employs the replies went to everyone.
This started an email storm that eventually caused the system to crash.
So they took the servers down and got everything under control then returned to normal operation.
Naturally people started replying to the email again along with replies to the news everything was back on line and crashed the system again.
A new policy was made that the only ones that could do a mass mailing was the executive committee.

Hit him with a metal saucepan like I do mean roosters.
Actually, the pepper spray or bear spray, or even wasp spray is a good idea.
Getting bit is not good.
Even a squirt bottle with just water in can be a great deterrent for dogs. I have squirt bottles with just water that I use for dogs that I watch. One or two squirts can really get their attention. I mostly use them on dogs who want to hump. I take care of two female dogs who are humpers!

Heck, I've used the spray bottle on the hubby!! (Now Weedy, back during Halloween when I said sometimes it's scary living with me, you said "do tell", so there's one!;👍😃)! I can just reach for one of (the many) handy spray bottles and it stops unwanted behavior quickly!! 👩‍🚒🤺

You go girl, probably well worth it!!😃😉

I drove across country in a uhaul with a cat. It slept all of that first day. Kept me awake that entire night at the hotel. Next morning I bought a water pistol. Cat was soaked by the end of the day but ready to sleep that night. 😁

An elderly friend of mine (now deceased) who was a pharmacist told me he had something called "high life" or something like that. I know it had high. He told me the chemical compound but I can't remember what it was now. I can't remember if it was sprayed or dripped on a dog, but it would cause the sensation of being very cold without actually causing injury or pain. It would apparently scare the crap out of dogs. They used it to scare off aggressive dogs.

The dog barking and agitating other dogs reminded me of a story I may have told already. My dad had this really big fat cat that liked to perch up on the top of the fence. A neighbor was walking his German Shepherd by one day and it started barking at the cat. The cat was having none if it and jumped down and proceeded to claw & bite the crap out of the dog. Dog ran away yelping with owner in tow. From that day forward, whenever the owner tried to walk his dog past dad's fence, the dog would drag him across the street to avoid going anywhere near the cat.

Meanwhile, back in Redneckdramaville, my friend (let's call her Lulu) went to get more of her stuff from the trailer she shared with Jack. Every time she tries to get all of her stuff, he impedes her. I have told her to call the cops to help but don't know why she doesn't. The previous time she was there he was claiming that I told him I didn't approve of her relationship with our other friend and that my brother didn't either and we'd both told him that. He hasn't spoken to my brother in months & she knows I not only approve but am ecstatic for them to be together & that he's full of crap. She called her current boyfriend first and had it on speakerphone with her phone in her pocket so he could hear all the bs spewed by her ex. Anyway, today she went to get more stuff & he was getting more desperate and aggressive. When she tried to leave the trailer he blocked the door & wouldn't let her out. She messaged her bf that he wasn't letting her leave so he went over there, ready to beat his behind. Eventually Jack moved and let her out the door but he jumped in her car as soon as she was trying to drive away & refused to get out. She was afraid he'd get violent if she tried to call the cops. He was still sitting there refusing to leave until her bf got there and told him to back off.

So, I've told her next time I will go with her and if he thinks he's going to try to fight someone, I will grab his broken pinky. She's seen me get up in people's faces before so she knows I will protect her. And her ex is much less likely to try to fight me than her current bf (even though he knows the bf would win). It's an ego thing.

This financing thing annoys me greatly- it's also becoming the norm here. They are already overcharging, so at least have the decency to offer only minimal % rates. It's easier to get/save money than years ago. You hear stories of folk saving dimes, or less, to buy a guitar for a dollar and it took them all year. Society has this 'I need it now' mentality.
As you say, if you walked in with the cash they would take it. And that guitar is about €2k here at most—about 2,200 dollars.

I really wish we could go back to before the Jimmy Carter days when he said banks could charge more than 10% interest. I think it's wrong. There are tons of payday loan companies in town all over the place. My friend got conned into paying a traffic fine for his mom but he didn't have the $ and got one of those loans. 30% interest. I hate that those places can charge so much interest.

So, the good news is that my rotator cuff is ok. Bad news is that my Deltoid will take months to heal and I can't do any heavy lifting or do anything to strain it. That means my brother will have to step up. I hurt it lifting a case of water to carry in to my mother bc my brother refused to help me. I'm going to have to talk to him about contributing to the household. He gets paid but doesn't pay any of the bills, buy the food, or contribute in any meaningful way.

At least I can still do stuff with my right arm but its frustrating. I need to make sure not to injure it again.

As an aside, I'm frustrated with parts diagrams for vehicles and stuff not being where it should be. Friend went to install the PCV valve for my truck and we could not find where it goes. The place where it is supposed to go is a blank spot. It does not match up with the diagrams. Friend looked all over the motor- front and back-- and could not find where it went and we kept looking over the diagrams and videos.

Also, my phone shut itself off at 32% battery life and when I tried to turn it back on it had samsung logo, then shutoff, then it started up-- logo, off, logo off, logo off. I finally had to pull the case open and pop the battery out to stop the cycle. It drained the battery to 30% cycling like that. I have it charging now. But I was trying to send my friend another diagram picture when it crapped out on me.

Glad it's not your rotator cuff, it's always good to know what you are dealing with!! Now we will find out if you can actually rest it like you need to!!😊😉

Yeah, when I complain about my shoulders and elbows, my Dr looks at the x-rays and says: "What thahell did you do to tear them up?"gaah
I say: "I pulled wrenches for 45 years, does that count?":dunno:
Answer: "...well, that explains it".
Rant = It sux to be me.🤨

Thanks, Pearl. I've asked my brother to help out more, but we'll see if he does.

My gripe is how they have so many things locked up in glass cases at the stores & how long it takes to find an employee to unlock the case. A friend asked me to grab her some pain meds for UTI. It's in a locked glass case. It's supposed to be otc, but you have to get an employee to unlock it. No employees in sight. I had to go to the front of the store and ask them to send someone to unlock it-- which took several minutes. Then the clerk who got it out gave me a really nasty look & said she would take it up to register 9. So, I had to check out at that particular register (and I prefer self- checkout). But there was no cashier at register 9. I had enough time to go to walk across the store, use the restroom, and come back and still had to wait several minutes on the cashier to come back. The kind of stuff they have locked up is stuff that some people might be embarrassed to ask for and they have the added humiliation of having the customer have to ask for it at the register. I personally am not embarrassed by it, but I know some people who are. Pretty much anything to do with women's hygiene is locked up. They really should have a system where customers can push a button to get help from employees. They used to have that but don't anymore.

The Dollar General is the bigger town from us has the plastic over the OTC's, but you can lift it up yourself. Then an alarm goes off for a few seconds, just to let the cashier know someone is getting something. I usually turn and look and say, "Just Me". Noticed the Kroger Store had limits on cold meds (2) and liquid pain reliever (1), but they were out anyway.

Last summer I was looking at buying one of those prefab sheds for the homestead. I thought that I needed more secure storage there, wanting to leave one of the mowers and some other equipment there. Found a company about 70 miles away that had a shed that would fill my needs. The advertised price was $5200, which was more than I wanted pay, but I figured a payment for a $5200 shed wouldn't be terrible for 12 or 18 months. The company emailed me the contract. Holy cow. If you were to finance that shed, the new prices $9400 for 48 months, at 13% interest AND a prepayment penalty. Needless to say, we didn't pursue the prefab shed route after that. Instead, we have been saving $200 a month to buy the materials to put up a pole barn instead.

I wonder how many people get suckered into buying these sheds, and then can't make the payments and they get repo'ed. No better than a buy here pay here car lot.

I've been seeing the same dentist for 37yrs. "good guy" he retired and his stepson took it over ,I made an appointment for a small cavity , finally I got in after 2 months. He looked at it and said we'll set up another appointment to take care of it . We will send it with your bill for today , so 35 miles and a $65. bill for nothing . Guess I'll have to search for another dentist and there are very few around here that aren't butchers

! New Year and thinking about Tax Time. Bought Turbo-tax (disk) and set it up on wife's computer (Intuit requires newer operating system than mine). Anyway, some of the features require that you log onto the intuit web page.... It went south from there... Can't create an account because you already have an account with your e-mail address. Can't reset the password because the account isn't linked to your cell phone number.... You have to log onto the intuit web page to get customer support with logging in! After spending hours in a do loop from he77, called them on their 1800 -intuit phone number... its an AI driven do loop! Finally, got to a customer person, spent 2 hours with them only to learn that they no longer have the ability to make any changes to your account or reset your password! Even if you can verify everything that they have on file! The nice lady on the phone (who isn't allowed to help) sent me a link for a customer service request, spend 15 minutes filling out the request, they have to be sent a picture of your driver's license or passport. Then 30 minutes I get a response back, Denied!

Yep! TurboTax has managed to get worse every year and still increase sales, what a company!

I think I will just down load the files from the IRS and do it by hand....

We may be better off switching from an income tax to a sales tax or as the Europeans call it a VAT tax system.

FYI - They have annoyed me....
