The Land Report researchers concluded that Gates, now the fourth richest man in the world, and his wife, Melinda, own 242,000 acres of farmland.

Bill and Melinda Gates have acquired land in more than a dozen states. However, his largest land holdings are in Louisiana (69,071 acres), Arkansas (47,927 acres), Nebraska (20,588 acres), Arizona (25,750 acres) and Washington state (16,097)

Imagine if he teamed up with someone like Monsanto with their GM seeds. Think about the Canadian farmers who lost their land when Monsato seed blew onto their farms and grew, Monsanto managed to legally take over the farms to protect their GM crops.

Play nice, now.

I was going to post the same story, Mav. I think he may do nothing with the farmland (except get more gov't farm subsidies to NOT grow food), ensuring more hungry, and therefore, more deaths. Population control has been a concern of his since the 90s.

We know about his horrible vaccine testing on the poor in other countries. The "progressives" claim to hate capitalism and the wealthy; why does he get a pass?

I just read the other day Bezos has bought 400,000 acres in Texas alone. Think he has Bill topped in that market. Personally, I think they are buying as much land as they can with their millions. I'm sure they will also eventually sieze OUR real estate (or buy it as mortgages are defaulted and they snatch land up for nickels on the dollar, like they did post-fires in Calif.) there will be very few landowners in the U.S., certainly fewer and fewer "stupid" "deplorables", to borrow the labels of HRC and J.Gruber. JMHO.

You are aware that companies like Monsanto want heritage seeds banning are you not?

Bill and Melinda Gates have stated that one of their goals is to be able to feed the growing number of people in the world. Why would buying farm lands be anything other than them working on ways to actually do that? I don’t understand why everyone is so willing to believe in all the crazy conspiracy theories.

One of the main concern is that Bill is pushing his vaccines and GMO too much.... if he will get a food production monopole then lots of people wont be able to choose if they want GMO food or not.

And if they are able to do stuff like this then there is no way to find out what else did they changed.

If i had the money I'd buy a couple hundred thousand acres too. What they do with it their business. I've known ranchers who had almost that much acreage too. Out west it takes a lot of acres to grow a cow.
If people are worried that Gates is going to control the food market then they have no idea how much farm land is out there. 268,000 acres is barely a drop in the total farm land in production.
I guess I'd suggest that those who are concerned should buy their own land and grow their own food.

Problem is that there is a lot of old timer farmers out there that are wanting to retire. . . and their kids have no desire to take over the operations. They think it is too much work.

Your absolutely right. Even my kids have no interest in taking over our ranch. A few years ago I offered to give each kid a hundred acres free and clear to have until i was ready to retire, then they'd get the whole place. Since they aren't interested I threatened to adopt a kid from Kenya and leave everything to him.

We only have 10 acres. . . but yet none of the kids are willing to take it on. Just dont understand . If I was your "kid" I would have jumped on the opportunity. That is a huge offer to be self reliant being free and clear. An amazing offer. . .
