I think i'd tell them to stuff their job, its not worth the hassle!!! over something that might or might not have happened 36 years ago, nobody seem to be sure what happened anyway.
i'm sure someone could bring up something I MIGHT have done 36 years ago and try and make a case out of it, its so long ago no body would be sure what happened or didn't.
I thought you had time limits on crimes in the US?

I thought you had time limits on crimes in the US?

We do. And this one (if it even happened) would be 35 years past the statute of limitations.

However, this was NEVER about justice, or criminal charges. This accusation was all about politically timed character assassination, by a party that is absolutely desperate to prevent a conservative majority on the high court.

So much so, that they've basically told their folks that they don't even care about the midterms, blocking Kavanaugh is priority one, because even if they pulled off a blue wave, or win in 2020, they won't get a chance to swing the court liberal for a long time.

The funny part is, it now doesn't even matter. Whether he's confirmed or not, the outrage of this is going to drive more and more folks to the polls to vote straight red. Heck, if he's NOT confirmed, it will raise that even more, and this is exactly what the Dems do not want. Either way, they've lost.

If they confirm Kavanaugh, the high court will swing red for the foreseeable future. If they don't confirm Kavanaugh, there will be even more red in the Senate, so the next nominee will get confirmed in no time. Either way, the Dems have blown their wad on this gambit, and it has backfired spectacularly.

I agree with both gaz and Paul about it was so long ago should it even be allowed to be considered. All I’m saying is to shut up any conspiracy advocates, putting limits on the investigation dosent look above board to me. From what I’ve read, not personally seen, is they were only allowed to talk with specified people and within a week. That just doesn’t seem like a real investigation. As far as being denied a position, on an unconfirmed accusation that’s 30+ years ago, when they were drunk minors, shouldn’t be allowed to stop his career.

Alot of stuff happened in 82 and People know exactly what , when , who . But this case is not one of them because it didn't happen .
I don’t doubt that this may have happened, but either way, it wasn’t rape, was a bunch of drunk teens, was 30+ yrs ago, and he dosent have a history since then of abuse. Move on to other things....

That's just it. They didn't.

This is the main press narrative (though sometimes, they report the truth). The White House flat said, interview anyone you want, but definitely these 4. In numerous releases and statements, the White House directed the FBI to do a no holds barred investigation, the only caveat being to wrap it up in a week.

You are being played.

Here's the NY Times story on it:

White House Tells F.B.I. to Interview Anyone Necessary for Kavanaugh Inquiry

Or the Boston Globe:

https://www.bostonglobe.com/news/po...-house-says/X6HBB1u9PmHGhWnxoWmTGP/story.html

White House says Kavanaugh investigation is unrestricted

The Chicago Tribune, and even the Washington Post (no doubt reluctantly) reported on it as well. But of course, they quickly relegated these headliners to "buried" status in deference to more bashing stories.

BOOM goes the dynamite....

Senate just voted (51-49) to advance Kavanaugh to a full vote.

https://www.cnn.com/politics/live-news/kavanaugh-fbi-investigation-oct-18/index.html

Final vote is Saturday.

Good thing Murkowski isn't up for reelection until 2022. She really put her head on the GOP chopping block voting No. The backlash for that bonehead move is going to be fierce from the POTUS on down. Good luck lady.

Manchin (D) likely just saved his own ass for the midterm. (it's a smart move, when you're the Dem Senator in a red state, and just ahead of your opponent in the polls). Let's just agree to give him honorary #walkaway membership, shall we?

He is smart. What the word on the senator leaving for a wedding

He said he has travel arrangements. If his vote is needed, he'll be there.
As he put it...what a great weekend, by the time it's over, I'll have walked my daughter down the aisle, and we'll have a new Supreme Court Justice.

Keyser told the investigators that she was -- as the Journal notes -- urged to clarify her statement by Monica McLean, a former FBI agent and friend of Ford’s, the paper reported, citing people familiar with the matter.

McLean’s lawyer denied his client tried to influence Keyser to change her account, calling it “absolutely false.”

For anyone here who actually still believes in Ford's accusations against Kavanaufh. . . . Do you or has anyone you know well gone through a personal life changing tragedy? It could be a rape, which again, hers was not, a horrible life changing accident, the passing of a very close loved one, the list can go on. talk to them! According to Ford this experience has changed and influenced her life for the past 36 years. . . Ptsd, claustrophobic, afraid of flying are the ones I remember her saying during testimony. Now think about your own personal tragedy, or loved ones? And if you haven't gone thru anything and no one you know has. . . Think about 9/11 or even further back, for us old enough to remember the Challenger explosion. Do you remember exactly where you were, what you were doing, who you were with, what you did right after finding out? Those last two examples were National tragedies, close to our hearts, but don't you think if it was such a personal life changing experience, that person would actually remember certain details even if they had one drink?

My 17yo brother hanged himself in our shed when I was 15. The way my family handled it caused me serious psychological trauma and mental health problems, which got worse when my father died a few years ago and I found out more about his actions the night before my brother's death. I'm still dealing with those issues, over 30 years later. The only things I remember from that day are my mother saying, 'Iain's killed himself. Come downstairs,' and then me putting my tenor horn down in the livingroom, ready for school. Nothing else: not getting dressed or going downstairs, eating or drinking anything, who came and went in the house, what anyone said or did. I hadn't drunk anything. I have only flashes of what happened over the next few days.

I have only flashes of what happened over the next few days.

Which is exactly why we can't believe a witness as to who was there, etc., THIRTY SIX years ago. Especially when previously, she never named or identified Kavanaugh. THAT detail was all Feinstein.

Alaska will have a new Senator . Coward.

Unfortunately, she's not up for reelection until 2022. Though it would be interesting to see the voters call for her resignation. I'm sure Trump and the GOP are going to give her a whole lot of grief for this. (as well they should, unless her constituents really want this, and she was accurately carrying out their wishes). Though I doubt it. (since Alaska has only gone blue ONCE since it existed as a state!)

Grassley demands correspondence between Ford legal team and Dem senators

https://www.foxnews.com/politics/gr...ence-between-ford-legal-team-and-dem-senators

He really gives her the business....

“The U.S. Senate doesn’t control the FBI. If you have an objection to how the FBI conducts its investigation, take it up with Director Wray. But don’t raise that objection as a reason not to respond to this Committee’s demand for relevant evidence,”

Grassley wrote. “Even if the FBI never interviews Dr. Ford, or interviews her ten times, this Committee has a constitutional obligation to investigate Dr. Ford’s allegations, and that’s what we’ve been doing since we became aware of her allegations.”
