You can always use a t post to stake in the ground and then tie the tomatoes up. Or any kind of large stake will do. Just be careful with the roots. With all the rain and warm weather we have been having it doesn't take things long to shoot up. I'm going to have a time of it trying to get all the weeding done when it finally stops raining long enough.I have several tomatoes on my plants. They are all green at the moment, but they are getting to be a pretty good size. My problem now is trying to control the plant. I didn't buy those cages. I thought I wouldn't need them until much later. My back yard looks like Vietnam.
Not sure if this counts or not, but I just got back from vacation in the Rocky Mountains. We stayed at a small cabin. When I say small, I mean small. It was about the same size as my bed room. It had a fireplace, small table for eating, a small kitchenette and a bathroom. It wasn't up to my cleaning standards ( I admit I can be a little over the top with that sometimes) I striped the bed to find a barley functional mattress pad. I went out and bought a new one. I cleaned pretty much everything from top to bottom. There was plenty clean in a small space. I noticed that the smoke detector even had dirt smudges on it. I stood in a chair to wipe it down, and I saw it didn't have a light on in it. I pressed the test button, and no sound came out of it. I looked around and noticed there wasn't a fire extinguisher either. The window by the bed was nailed shut. Only a small bathroom window with a crank open (no adult could fit thru that) and the window by the table opened. The table window and the front door were about 5 feet apart. I got pretty anxious thinking about if there were a fire how would we get out. We got back home to Texas and it still didn't sit well with me. I contacted the fire marshal in Colorado and asked him if it was a requirement to have fire extinguisher in a rental cabin. He said it was per state law (and some other law) chapter 9. I told him about the cabin with no fire extinguisher and non working smoke detector. He promised to go out to the property and check it out early next week. I don't know if he will or not, but I may follow up later next week to see if anything becomes of it. I would have mentioned it to the owners, but I kind of got the feeling they were only interested in doing the bare minimum based on the way the rest of the cabin looked (there were a total of about 8 cabins on the property and all looked a little neglected.
Anyways, I took my cleaning products with me on the trip, and my own sheets. My better half kind of teased me a little about it before we got there, but then he later admitted he was glad that I did
We also took our own bag of snack foods for the long road trip, plus our auto battery jump, and air mini air compressor.
I always carry disposable gloves and antibacterial wipes in my purse for public restroom stops.

Totally change the sheets if you can but defiantly change or don't use the bedspread. They never change those. You made me laugh. . . which I so needed tonight! But I do understand wanting my own sheets. . . sorry but you just never know if they actually wash and change in some places. And the sanitary wipes are not a bad idea for public bathrooms either. I had an ex brother in law who supposedly caught Hep C using a public bathroom, but I had my serious doubts at the time.

From where I was coming from is that cabins are supposed to be rustic. Unless you payed big bucks for the rental that is.Nah, I used to be, but I am feeling much better now
Just kidding... I don't think I am. I am a clean and organized individual, but people with OCD usual can't function through their day to day activities. I have no problem getting through my day, but I do like things to be neat and tidy.
My daughter worked for a major Motel chain for a while. The Sheets Were Always changed but the bedspread was never changed. They were pressured to clean the room as quick as possible because of Labor so basically as long as it looked clean it was good enough they didn't always wipe everything down and then did a quick vacuum to top it off. That is so true! I have seen too many undercover stories where they test hotel sheets. I saw one where the cleaning ladies were using the same cleaning rag they used to clean the toilet with to clean everything else with. ... so gross. Public bathrooms are disgusting. In biology we tested areas around the school with a swab and put them in a petri dish. The bathrooms grew bacteria faster than anywhere else...wild crazy looking stuff. The other place was the keyboard. I do clean my keyboard regularly.
They were rustic indeed. These were inexpensive. Probably some of the lowest prices around, and they accepted dogs. That was our main goal was to get something affordable that accepted dogs. The things in the cabin were definitely dated. I have zero problem with that, but I don't understand why it wasn't clean. Just because something is rustic, doesn't mean it needs to be covered in cobwebs, dust, dirt, and I am pretty sure dirty sheets and blankets. How much would it cost the owners to fork over a few extra minutes and soap and water to keep it clean for the people renting it?From where I was coming from is that cabins are supposed to be rustic. Unless you payed big bucks for the rental that is.

YES!! that is what I am talking about. When I stay at a motel, I always strip the bed and pile the sheets on the floor, put all dirty towels in a pile, and put away all trash in the bags and tie up the bags. I do clean the bathtub and wipe down the counter top. When the cleaning crew comes in, all they have to do is put on new sheets, put trash bags away, and hopefully reclean the bathroom. I try to make sure everything on the nightstands and desk area are as they were. I feel bad for those ladies have to rush and I know some people leave the rooms a complete mess.My daughter worked for a major Motel chain for a while. Most definitely worry to much. When I was in the Army. I remember being so tired and eating my MRE and having flies land on it, whatever keep eating. When I lived and worked overseas I learned not to look too closely at my food. Same goes for hotel rooms. I think many people just worry too much.
I was really clean for the majority of my life. As a surgical assistant a good portion of the job was to be aware of how clean everything was. I admit though, with the weaker my wife gets, the lower my standards get. I’m a lot more inclined to just let it go that I haven’t mopped in a week.....Nah, I used to be, but I am feeling much better now

I have loads of green tomatoes on the vines but still haven’t seen a ripe one. Should be within a week though. Am picking blueberries about every five days now. Can’t believe how loaded they are this year. All the extra rain did them a world of good. Most of the apple trees are heavy with fruit this year too. I have several different varieties and each year it’s a crap shoot which ones produce well, but most are good this year. The figs are loaded too. I’m not really sure how to tell when a fig is ripe, but there’s figs all over the 4trees this year. I am about to till the greenhouse up and am considering what to replant in it. My outside garden was a bust this year. I let the weeds just overtake it after planting. Just too many things going on here.
Lol! Yeah, critters know when food is ready. I still have not eaten a ripe cherry yet. Birds will come in and clean the two trees just before they are ripe enough for me....You can tell which fig is ripe when you notice its been eaten by a bird after you didnt pick it early that morning. Lol
