While the world is in this kind of turmoil I think this is not the kind of time to sell any ammo or reloading supplies. Having extras of things is a much better problem than not having enough.Ok. Back to prepping now. After my trip to the bank today I brought home another load of reloading stuff from storage. I've never had everything in one place before, and I have several more loads. I need a bigger building! Depending on how things go over the next few weeks I may start selling off a lot of ammo and reloading components.

I would agree, if I cut myself short. But that's not likely to happen. That could be a huge mistake.
Some of what I'm considering selling is calibers that I'll probobly never use. For example I have a Ruger M77 Hawkeye in .375 caliber that I used in Alaska for brown bear and moose. I'll never hunt either one again so I have no use for it, or the ammo, reloading dies, etc. While the world is in this kind of turmoil I think this is not the kind of time to sell any ammo or reloading supplies. I won't be selling any loaded ammo, just the components and dies. Another gun that I have no use for is my dad's old Remington 03-A3 in 30/06 caliber, plus thousands of FMJ bullets. I have another Winchester M70 30/06 hunting rifle that I'll keep.I have components to load up hundreds of 308 rounds, but I do not own a 308 (I did at one time). I could use the bullets and primers for 30-06, but my 30-06 is a single shot. The 30-06 would be a good sniper rifle, but not a high volume weapon by any stretch of the imagination. So I could see selling 308 ammo if it came down to it. We would have to be in a WROL (Without Rule of Law) situation since selling your own loaded ammo is deemed manufacturing without a license by the ATF.
I think most of the yahoos will be totin' 223 and 7.62x39 chambered rifles, so I'm not as worried about the 308 ammo being used against me as I would be with 223. Not selling any of those!
Way too small to cast. Even if you had a mold, they would be the devil to drop out of the mold. They are made by dripping lead in a shot tower and then screening them to sort by size.Anybody got a reloading setup for my BB gun? Can I set up a lead-die-cast for 4.5 cal. BB's? I could really use the cast die for some .177 pellets also...GP
I was being terribly sarcastic and self pitying when making the last thread content...didn't mean to make a scene. just wanted to show you how pitifully I am armed when it comes to things that go bang...GPWay too small to cast
I have a few bags of it but have never tried it yet. Seems kind of gross honestly. I take that back, I used it as coffee creamer once and it was ok. I mostly got it for cooking if I was in a pinch. I would imagine if you chilled it and used Hershey syrup in it it might be ok to drink.....the milk powder reminds me.i need to get a few thing's of self stable milk.

thanks for the info anyway, was fun to watch
I would use it for cooking recipes as in cakes, pies, but I also know you are not much of a baker so cream gravies maybe. I use canned milk for those kind of items.I have a few bags of it but have never tried it yet. Seems kind of gross honestly. I take that back, I used it as coffee creamer once and it was ok. Im not a fan of powdered milk either, but used in baked goods you will not be able to tell the difference. My mom used to use powdered milk when she made mashed potatoes, with her store bought potato flakes and margarine. As a kid I never knew what real mashed potatoes tasted like. Now I that I know, I will always make real mashed potatoes, with real butter.I can't stand powdered milk,,,,,but the canned milk is a different story ,I add to my stock almost every time I hit the store
I have decide not to get rid of my 243,it's a Remington 700 ADL one of the old ones that were well made ,I love the 700's but don't like the 243,,,,it is a step above the 223 has better range and more knock down power,,,,I ordered 80 more rounds of ammo for it yesterday,,,,
I also like the 243. My Safe Queen is a 243, Sako, built in 1958. It shoots great but getting parts in almost impossible and is very expensive if you can find them. I do keep one box of ammo for it, just for emergency, emergencies, last resort kind of thing. I know some hog hunters have switched from the 7.62 x 39 to the 243. I can only assume the much higher velocities of the 243, provides better terminal energy. Just guessing here.
243 would not be my first choice for hog,,,I like a larger heavier round for hog,,,
most of my hog hunting the shots do not exceed 50 yards I use a 300 Blackout with 150gr soft points
We have a pretty good size wild hog population locally here. I’ve never hunted one before but would consider it. There’s a decent amount of meat on them. I was just about to ask what you two thought of the 308 being used for them and you answered it before I got a chance. My next question is how do you get the dead animal out of the woods....I have to agree, the 243 would not be my hog hunting go to round. I would want a 308 or a minimum my 6.5 Creedmoor shooting the 156 grain soft points. I a still vacillating between a 308 AR10 or going with a 6.5 Creedmoor AR10. The 308 has better bullet selection but I already have the 6.5 and all the reloading dies. This choice does fall into prepping vs. being cheap. From a prepping stand point, better to have more caliber selections but that also costs more. More dies, more bullets, more brass and more ammo storage containers, etc.. So many "I wants and so few I got's" the money. LOL
We get many by them just being hit off the roads. . . yes we literally eat road kill. If a friend hits one, they will call and let us know and then go to collect. We have a pretty good size wild hog population locally here. I’ve never hunted one before but would consider it.
