Yup , spot on, I personally cannot get on with rechargeable batteries they don't last long enough kept in low drain operations like am/fm radio receivers. I only use Energiser Lithiums in anything I NEED to work on demand in high stress environments. I like the long shelf life of Lithium batts .

Agree, I like the Lithium's just wish they go down on price, even alkaline's are getting too damn expensive (for name brand batteries)

my mom has had a pump hooked up to her broken but now healed ankle for a staff infection, since she came back home from the hospital.and here's some nice stuff we ended up with..

2 opticell AG+ silver antibacterial gelling fiber wound dressing
10 tegaderm transparent dressing with label
1 partial roll of gauze bandage roll
1 abdominal pad
a mostly full package of 4 ply low linting non woven gauze sponges
curad 3g vinyl powder free synthetic exam gloves (medium size)
and 1 nexcare hand sanitizing gel,and a lil less half full purell of same thing..

i deffintly need to make a complet list of what i have

I always wanted to learn to work with leather. My parents in law ran a shoe repair shop for about 50 yrs, and did all kinds of leather work. When they retired they wholesales all the equipment for next to nothing. They had industrial stitches and all kinds of old heavy equipment. They would have given it to me but I was 9 hrs away and have too many hobbies allready! I canned two loads of pickeled okra today, and still have a pile to work on tomorrow. It's great stuff to trade or gift, not to mention just enjoy some too. I like it spicey! I just finished assembling my new smoker. I have a large thawed rabbit in the fridge that I plan to try it out on tomorrow. I read the Romans smoked meat to preserve it, I'll have to look into it. I also worked the last two days on my main fence, and am almost done! Yeah!!! It's been a couple year project, but the end is in sight. I have to fix the area where a stream enters the property and install some wire on the front cattle gates. Then it's off to the local pounds to find two good outside dogs that will protect my chickens, instead of eating them.

Yes my friend smoking meat is a very good way to preserve it ! we have been doing that here in kentucky for generations and i know that places like alaska depend upon smoking meats to survive there winters! i think salt also plays a vital importance in that preservation aswell being a natural preservative. the 500 rounds costed 24.89..only thing is..their the lead rounds.and not the copper jacket..which i prefer..

Just ordered some large sheets of clear polythene plus duct tape, activated charcoal and woven filter matting to be able to seal up doors and windows in case this ebola outbreak does get out of hand, the charcoal and matting will make an improvised air filter. Last month I bought plenty of FFP 3 masks ( N99) nitrile gloves, spray disinfectants to go with the three NBC suits (impregnated bone charcoal)

good to have on hand ! but i do not believe it will go airborn!

Tuesday i started doing my monthly shopping and ended up buying close to 100 extra cans of vegetables. However when it comes right down to shopping in 1 store I wont ever do it again. I hate it when people ask me why I am buying so much food is it their business??? Lucky for me the town of Lillington has 2 food lions one on each side of the river so from now on I will be buying half on one side of the river and half on the other side.

This is what I bought:

84 cans of mixed vegetable
10 cans of baked beans
6 - 1 pound ham steaks on sale for $1.50 each
2- 3 pound packages of bacon ends $4.99 each
12 cans of tomatoes
3 boxes of Lasagna noodles
3 large jars of sauce On close out for $1.99 each normally $5.99
12 small boxes of biscuit mix on sale for 3/ $1.00
10 packs of pizza crust mix on sale for .49 each
6 packs of smoked sausage on sale for $1.49 a pack
8 packs of cheese on sale for $1.69 each

6 boxes cereal on close out for $1.19 a box
4 packages granola on closeout for $1.89 a pack

1 large tub of perk coffee on sale for $5.99

Now not all of this goes into our preps but about half of it does, the rest is for us to use daily. And today while in town I will be picking up sugar and flour. When I do my prepping I try and only buy what is on sale, or on closeout. This saves me lots of cash for other things.

I have 100 pounds each already put up in big buckets along with 2 buckets of macaroni, and 2 buckets of Chinese noodles. But today I bought another 20 boxes of rice a roni. It works for a change from the plain white rice. Also don't forget to add yellow rice to your preps. I like that with chicken.

good idea, i don't think I have any yellow rice. By the way, do you know what makes it yellow, and will it store as well?

I know yellow rice as plain white rice spiced with saffron. I wouldnt take my word for it tho.

It does have safron in it as well as you can taste anise in it. The turmeric in it also can change the color yellow. Anise in the old days was even used to help people to get rid of colds.

I have 4 containers with Turmeric in it here, when someone comes down with a cold, or ear infection I give them warm milk with Turmeric in it. It helps them to fight off the infection and the cold. I also cook it in my meals and it helps to build up the immune system. When I can string beans I like to put a clove of garlic in each jar along with a sprinkle of turmeric.

I have tried to grow turmeric and failed every time, my grandmother told me a few years back that the nights are too cold here for it. I was told louisiana would be a good place to grow it.

the saw is kinda like using a some what dull carpenters saw to cut a 2x4..i also tried a axe some what.still not sure about it thoe..but im thinking it'll be good for cutting under brush when there's not enough room to use a machete or something else...so all n all..im thinking it's strictly for camping...if not similar situation(s)...oh yeah..the compass that came with mine.no water or what ever inside of it.so compass is worthless..


P.S. the miniature utility knife..it's a lil smaller then what i expected..but yet.happy with it so far..

$22 on Amazon, it's a good book, strictly based on farm animals, its not a cat and dog book, very little about domesticated house pets. The merck book covers that for us though that book is like $55 for the 10th edition
