Understanding Narcissism and Narcissists

Just wanted to find something in this thread about someone playing at being a victim. "People are against me. I am the victim in this." (Not!) Narcs can't admit their part.

Playing the victim
Does your mother or father Playing the victim doesn’t pay, but it’s the favored tactic of covert narcissists. This is the person who always needs help. Everything is always going wrong for them, but it’s always the fault of everyone and anyone else. If you try to confront this person, they will become the victim again. Mysterious (and endless) illnesses and personal disaster-after-disaster leave this person pulling the emotional strings of everyone around them.

And unfortunately narcissist's and borderlines are really hard to pull back to reality till they see what and who the problems is.....One of my favorite discussion points is after the person onloads on you how everything is someone else's fault is to ask them how their current lifestyle is working out for them...
Hopefully we are thru that stage with the kiddo we have been raising. His response to having to go to school was to throw up till he had a eroded esophagus......now several years later he and a friend are building their own tiny houses in the back yard....

Many just don't pull back. A few I've known just get worse with age. Then you've got to set your boundaries to decide how to care about them when they need help.
