One of my all time favorite song lyrics. Really says a lot about things some things much of the world has to deal with.
I think he wrote this about Bangledesh? Is that Rudy Giuliani in the dark suit and tamberine?:D

I clicked on it and Statesboro Blues was playing, all right!
My brother took me to the Georgia Jam, Atlanta Fulton County Stadium 1974 or 75. First time I saw them in concert, Greg came out of the stage and dropped from overdose before he got out 1 lyric, carried him away in ambulance. This was right before or right after his brother Dwayne died. Dwayne Allman was a Great blues singer.
ZZ Top, Marshal Tucker, Lynerd Skynerd made up for the Allman Brothers not performing that day though.

When Pess was in his right mind, we agreed these songs pretty well summed it all up.

I listened to them and that stinking war was like all wars horrible.
I heard about the spitting on GIs but it never happened in front of me thank goodness. I did roll up my car window on one of the commie little idiots heads while stopped at red light once though. A hell of of lot of difference in anti war and anti troops.
Injured warriors are my heartache, I saw them back then and I see them now at doctors office sometimes.
At VA I saw some really bad things in 1960s,1970s. One I'll never ever forget. And a heli pilot I was writing also I think was in that crash of 16 in Mosul. I still have his letter asking for candy and toys to throw out to the kids as they flew over. We sent them wrapped candy and little Dollar Store toys as requested. I never heard from him or his comrades I sent letters and packages to again.
VenomJ I can't say I understand because I can't since I never had to live or see these things. But I do hope you find peace and listen to inspiring music too at times.
I know Pess hid it well because he was very well spoken and positive in his post at PS site.
I miss him and a couple others who I only knew online. Hubby has a couple buddies online now too he just got online recently. Fox news site on youtube, lol.

I was dealing with 3 teens  when the Dead was famous. :thumbs up:

And I was just out of my teens.

Worked for me. :D

Do you like any classic rock from bands like the Kinks, Huey Lewis, Dr.Hook, CCR, ?

I saw the Kinks in Philly in '81 or '82. Without digging out my ticket stubs I'm not quite sure.

So was I. I got my bands mixed up I didn't have any kids when the Dead band was starting out I was a teen. I just never liked them that much I guess. I was still into doo whop and bubble gum stuff. Herman Hermits, Temptations, then came the rockers for me in about 1969-70.

I never even really heard of Garcia till a couple decades ago, at last not enough to know anything about him.
Yet I heard about so many others. I didn't like Kiss, ACDC, Ozzi Ozburn.
But I did like Zeplin, Hendrix, Dr Hook, Eagles, Who, Z Z Top, Marshal Tucker, and lots of others.

One of only 2 I liked by Hendrix
reminded me of one mama played and sang " all around the watchtower, not a penny to my name, 1000 miles away from home just a sleeping the rain" lol.

All Along the Watchtower is one of my faves, too, Meerkat. I hate it when I find a band/singer, etc that I really like one song of, then bleh on the rest.
Don't you guys listen to any of the new stuff? I was telling my kids I don't know what or who to listen to and they've suggested some good tunes.
Radioactive by Imagine Dragons.

Run by Snow Patrol.

I don't even like country music but I will listen to Lyle Lovett. I guess it's a Texas thing.
Jean Luc Ponty is a nice change and I don't like jazz. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ePMhJio8zT4

Edited to ADD: Meerkat, you've got Phil Collins and Ringo Starr on the drums in your video! I recognize one of the other guitarists, besides Harrison and Clapton, and the guy on keyboards, but can't pull up the names in my database (brain).

Heavy metal, rock, blues, jazz, I like just about all music. I've never cared for country music tho. To much whining for my taste. Ten Years After, George Thorogood, Stevie Ray Vaughn, Savoy Brown(split up and became Fog Hat), Dust, to name just a fraction of what I like.

Savoy Brown is alive and well, Gumpy. This was all over the blues channel on XM radio recently...

I can't get into much of the new music but guess that goes for all generational music types.
This is one of the 'newer' bands I like. Enya Only Time is ok too.
