I can't get into much of the new music but guess that goes for all generational music types.
This is one of the 'newer' bands I like. Enya Only Time is ok too.

Well, I don't think that was overly cheerful.

New music, it just depends on who it is and your tastes. There are lots of good indie bands and performers out there and I rarely listen to the radio and I don't have cable, etc. I just check out what my kids listen to once in a while.
Sometimes a movie might have good music in it. A few years ago when we had cable there was t.e.o.t.w.a.w.k.i. show, "Jericho," that had a lot of good music on it so I just google searched that to find those songs.
Radioactive might have been from that, Run too. But my kids like Imagine Dragons.
It cracks me up to hear Led Zeppelin as background store music, done in an orchestral manner. Like fricking elevator music. OKAY, who is old now? LOL

I don't listen to the radio and rarely watch TV so I don't know what new stuff is out there.

New stuff? Uncle Joe, you're not missing much if you never listen to the "new stuff." Now the ollllddd stuff....https://archive.org/details/BillSpragueCollection-RoyClarksGreatestHits

And if you
are into drums, this is likely a trio of the best you'll ever hear: (A) https://archive.org/details/BakerGingerCreamToadRoyalAlbertHall (Perhaps the greatest rock drummer of all time.)
(B) https://archive.org/details/BakerGingerToadDrumSolo

(drum solo begins at about 1:45)

(Drum solo begins at around 7:20 or so...this is the Iron Butterfly Farewell Tour, and they were STILL awesome!!!)

Phideaux.....many do not realize it but the Grateful Dead and Deep Purple were likely two of the greatest "jam bands" ever.....they could do 20, 30, 45 minute sets that would just blow people's minds.

When I was touring 2 - 90/100 minute sets were pretty much standard.

Lets go way back to 60s. Who is old enough to remember this song? Check out the puddle jumpers on these guys.

Meerkat: I think the keyboard person in your Geo. Harrison/Eric Clapton vid was elton john. And the one guitarist looked like Jeff Lynne from ELO.

Gumpy: Love Stevie Ray Vaughan, Eagles, CSNY. But I also enjoy Sting, Tom Petty, Pink Floyd, Kansas, The Who, and any of the artists on their own.

My favorite guitarists of all time are: Jimmy Page, Stevie Ray Vaughan, David Gilmore, Carlos Santana, Duane Allman, and of course George Harrison and Eric Clapton. I'm probably forgetting five or six as usual.

Heavy metal, rock, blues, jazz, I like just about all music. I've never cared for country music tho. To much whining for my taste. Ten Years After, George Thorogood, Stevie Ray Vaughn, Savoy Brown(split up and became Fog Hat), Dust, to name just a fraction of what I like.

I like almost everything except opera, even my mongolian throat singing and Gregorian chants when I am in the right mood. Good country is at the top of my list, followed by good rock from 60s and70s. Partial to Goose Creek Symphony, truly a band before their time

When I was touring 2 - 90/100 minute sets were pretty much standard.

Perhaps a better example: "2) Jam #2 / Jerry And Friends / Jerry At The Airplane House 10-28-69"........(Psychedelicatessen Jerry Garcia Special 8-9-09)...https://archive.org/details/PsychedelicatessenJerryGarciaSpecial8-9-09....The song begins at 8:22 and ends at 26:30, whereupon Donovan's Reef begins (Fillmore West, w/Country Joe and the Fish, 1969). The program is 1:34:02 and has only 6 songs, a couple of which are fairly short...Big Boss Man for example runs only about 5 minutes. BTW: I have all 556 "Dead Air" programs, every Grateful Dead/Jerry Garcia album I can get my grubby little mitts on, and every live concert I can find. The Dead/Garcia for me defines "jam band,"and I seriously doubt they will ever have any equal

We went to a small venue last night and listened to one of the best bands I've ever heard. Unfortunately, the venue held 150 persons, and there was only about 10 of us to listen to the great music. EJ Mathews Band is the real deal, and was raised on the Texas/Louisiana border. This music is a fitting addition to our forum and I hope you like it.
