It was sometime last year or the year before that NASA put out a blurp on the solar grand minimum a tiny ice age at some point. Normally the minimum will last 11 years but there was evidence that this one was going to stay cool even when we were supposed to switch to the maximum - hence the "GRAND MINIMUM".
We should at least get shorter growing seasons but the cool weather should help with the water shortages and maybe keep the fires down.

Well crud, I NEED my hot Texas summers!

You are hot enough without the summer... ;)

It started out as a beautiful day. I put on summer apparel, short pants and a short sleeved shirt. I took a fleece jacket in case I would get cold. I was comfortable outdoors and then, the weather took a turn. The wind kicked up. The blue skies became covered with dust, turned gray and it was cold, and I was grateful to have brought my jacket. I loaded up dogs to leave the dog park and as I was driving away, there was so much dirt in the air. As I was driving home, I suddenly remembered my seed starting trays out on the front porch and hoped that the wind wouldn't blow them away. They were safe!
My hair was all snarled up from the wind. Yesterday it was all snarled up because of sweating. What a difference a day makes.

No kidding!! I don't like it for the animals, can't adjust their clothes!

Tornado watch is over. I went outside around 8 to put all the animals up, the wind was so fierce and the sky looked like a wall of brown dirt. Dogs were fine to go to bed early. The young guineas took cover in the barn, the older ones didn't much care and were hanging with the turkeys. Chasing a russian orloff chicken around to get it to go in the coop was ridiculous. I don't know what her problem was tonight. Lights flickered a number of times, don't think the house generator had to go on. Grandson was supposed to be camping outside of Wichita, but a tornado did touch down in Andover, so they holed up at one of the scout's homes in that area and are having a slumber party indoors. They need to be meeting up at the campsite at 0600 to complete the tasks they were doing tomorrow.

I was watching the weather up your way, 'tis the season! I'm not a fan of severe weather, yet it fascinates me!! Glad ya'll are safe!!

That sounds like how it was here today. So horrible to be out in it. Someone complained about it in a group and someone tried to tell her to just deal with it and not to be so negative. I'm sure it was someone who hadn't been out in the cold wind saying that.

Cloudy but mild, temps in the low 80's. Supposed to get "summer" showers in the early evening, what ever that means...

I'm getting the house ready for possible power loss after midnight. Big storms capable of producing those twisty spinny things will start to arrive about 1am.

The weather man was down playing the late danger. I hope he's right... but this is the peak of tornado season. Tonight's storms won't be super cells producing long track tornadoes, a good thing. But short-lived spinners are possible.

Mid 80's today, storms this afternoon and tonight. Looks like several rain chances this week!!
Yep. I woke up this morning at 9, sun was shining, but my shoulders were hurting terrible.
They only hurt like that when it's gonna rain, and I was looking at a beautiful day, what's up with that?:dunno:
The bottom fell out at 12:00 and we got 1.02" in the first hour.
My joints were laughing: "We tried to tellya', you big dummy!!!"

About 2am it looked like the storms were fizzling out so I went to bed. Thunder woke me around 6am. I listened a few minutes to judge the severity... no biggy, just a few thunderstorms.

About an inch in the rain gauge when I finally got up and the sun was out. Looks like it'll rain again in the next hour or so... nothing severe.

Oh thanks. The 1.70" we got today, we did not need. :(
The lawn is already growing faster than the mower can keep up withgaah.
The rain came in backwards from the east-south-east direction.
That never happens, (except with spinney-things) and it caught me off guard.:(

65 and a clear sky, weather is creating more work for me, weeds and grass are growing like crazy and on the plus side our friend, just down the road past us, told me he'd help with weed control, he and his wife are more like family than our own flesh and blood, what a blessing!!!

Yesterday it was 32F when I got up but the temp topped out at 71 and sunny. Was beautiful and no wind for once. Today will be high around 52 and light rain.

Colorado! Thunderstorms last night, snow half an hour ago, back to rain now, and a promise of 80° on Friday! :D
Thunder woke me up, but I went right back to sleep. I never did hear hard rain, but it was misting when I got up this morning and I could tell that we had gotten some much needed moisture. It has been misting off and on today. It is currently 42 degrees, a cool day. I haven't seen any snow, but where you live is more likely to get snow.

On the radio, the newscaster said we had one of the driest April's in recorded history. I know that I have been seeing deep cracks in the earth in places that don't get irrigated.
