I think the weather people are getting carried away with the heat index numbers. They said it’s over 105 today. Heck, this is fine hay baling weather. Seemed to happen every year, usually in august, not june.

Giving indexes over 110 degrees for the next week. We’ll see… Of course we have a 20% chance of rain everyday. With this kind of heat and high humidity evening thunderstorms are the norm. In fact I can hear the thunder now.

A little extra haze in the air today. I think it’s more than humidity, think we’re getting smoke from the texas fires. Can't smell smoke though.

I found this heat index calculator, @Peanut Then they remind us it is an estimate and can vary by many different circumstances.
Grain of salt.

Thunder and lightning, very very exciting. Teddy hit the bunker, and I am going to bed.
Ditto. Hot and muggy, then hours of storms.

Was 80°F and climbing with 90% humidity at 7:30 this morning. Actual temps are in the high 90s now but heat index is still well over 100°F. At the least the humidity has dropped some. Supposedly we have a chance of rain Wednesday and Thursday but I'm not counting on it.

Nice, delightful 57 to 60 today. None of that sweltering 70 to 80 we suffered through last week.

If I am do work outdoors 45 to 55 is perfect. Over 65 got to stop work, to hot. 75 is far too hot to even drink beer.

High 90s today, same for tomorrow, than we ratchet back up into triple digits... chance of rain tonight, but it's only 20% so I'm gonna get out and water here in a few moments. Wish we'd get some of that rain everybody else is complaining about in other areas of the country, lol... but this is the high desert. With luck we'll see chances of rain crop up later this week... until then, I'm stuck with watering by garden hose. Seriously thinking of laying out a simple irrigation system for the garden area and fruit trees... it would make my life easier, lol. 😒

Drip irrigation is very effective. Allows you to put water right where you need/want it. And in the long run will save on water usage. I get my supplies here:

Irrigation supplies and equipment from Dripdepot

I'm pretty sure Urban Hunter uses them too. One thing I would recommend if you go that route, plan out where you want water. How many lines you need (runs to various areas, or dividing between beds). Advance planning will save some funds. Also typically in October they run sales and have free shipping.

No rain, but big storms to the northeast collapsing, big outflow winds!! Lots of lightning!! Inside eating tacos!!
When I was out earlier, around 6, enormously tall, poofy, beautiful clouds were everywhere. Looked like they were eventually going to be storm clouds. My neighborhood has trees everywhere so I don't get to see much of that at home.

Currently 100° according to laptop; or it might be 97° according to my phone; and that is why I am leaving! Permanently. Can't deal. We'll see...
Mostly sunny.
100° here! Storms to the west, but I don't think they'll get this far! This summer is more humid than most!

I've been here since '09, seen it all! LOL Sick of it! I want paradise...now! Only thing we haven't had are volcanoes.
Give it time, I wouldn't be surprised if Texas all of a sudden developed volcanoes, lol!! 09 was the year we had 13" of snow, were you here for that! I've been here since 1990, one can definitely see some interesting weather here!!

I loved the 'grain of salt' pun! :D
These were everywhere when I was growing up:

The calculator; I wished they had left off the silly yellow numbers and populated the reds:mad:. I know we have had 90% humidity with 100° heat.
Fill in that dambox!:waiting:
They are now called Thermotabs. We keep a bottle of them and the guys do use them as the shop is more like an oven and they are working over torches. We used them on the ranch also - when riding all day in the heat.
