Its been raining past few days. Some bad thunderstorms. Friend barely missed getting struck by lightning on his way home from work. Pulled out of the parking lot and lightning struck just where his vehicle had been. There was a thundercrack so loud it woke up the whole town. I saw people posting about it. Same one woke me up.

Today was no rain but hot as hell. Got up to at least 101°. In late afternoon it was down to 93° but heat index was 104°. My friend's 9-yr-old said the heat was making her feel nauseous.

You two have all the fellas keeping an eye on this thread. With all that talk of bikinis, they're waiting for pix 😂
Hot here yesterday, today, tomorrow, daftermarrow ~ How 'bout I just let you know when we are unmelted?
I'm 52 now, bikinis 10 yrs ago, not now! Maybe if Patch wears one too😁

sure did, that was fun and had to go out in it right after it started and it stopped by the time I got home. Nice for a change. It got down to 78° which felt cold when my clothes were wet. Creeping back up into the 90s already. It rained very hard for about a half hour. I'm happy to have it.
Nobody say wet t-shirt?

Speaking of lighting... I saw a bolt yesterday hit about 150yds away. I was standing in my cousins yard looking that direction when it hit one of his dad's old junk cars. It was impressive. I'm sure it woke all the rodents and reptiles living in that old wreck. It certainly made me jump!

Yea! 2nd day without rain in a month but the humidity was real high, over 80%. The lady who does hair straightening in town will be booked for some time to come.

Summer has finally arrived, with a vengeance. The weatherman said the heat index was 112. I think it was a couple degrees warmer, especially if you stood in the sun for a minute or two. On days like this I'm so happy I don't cut and bale hay anymore... let the youngsters do it.

It's nice to talk about the weather when it's in season...
We are still in a bake and watch the storms pass by to the north of us rut. It's been so dry that my weeds died.... Yesterday afternoon a thunder storm passed by close enough that you could see the rain falling and not a drop in the driveway.... Last night after dark it was still in the 90's and opening the door was like walking out into a sauna.

Hot, humid and no rain , a lot of our animals have been getting sick with various things and the only thing I can figure out it must be the weather . I wished it would cool down. It feels like I am back in Florida minus the afternoon thunderstorms. Well, we have had a few but not much rain compared to usual

Another day in the stew pot! High humidity and high temps. There's a unique color to the sky in the deep south with high humidity and temps. Sort of a purple haze (now everyone knows what JH was really singing about ). It was brutal out. I had to drive to Mississippi for an unplanned errand. About lunch the A/C in my truck was barely keeping up.

Temps this evening aren't too bad, 2300hrs and only 83 degrees. Last night at 0100 it was 82.

Today is expected to be pleasant for a change, mid- to upper 80s F some scattered clouds but no rain. Yesterday we got 1/8" of rain, which is all we have received in the last 3 weeks. I'm glad that I installed a float valve on one of my rain barrels so I can "top them off" with city water while working in the yard, actually just keep about a foot of water in them so I have something to work with.

I plan to take advantage of the weather gift today and tomorrow to get much needed outdoor work done.......

A part of 'weather' that nobody talks about. When someone mentions it I say:
"You know how you watch lightning and it always strikes somewhere else? I've been 'somewhere else' before"
We had lots yesterday and I watch how much is cloud-to-cloud, how much is cloud-to-ground, and how far away it is.
It can blow your stuff to pieces.
I actually have a video (yes, I was rolling tape) of the hit 1/4 mile away that blew everything connected to the DSL line apart, years ago. I don't have it on my YouTube page, but probably should.☹

I've been at the somewhere else place before as well. A group of us were doing a 6 mile hike in the mountains a few years ago. We had stopped about halfway up the climb (final destination was at 6593 and we started below 3000') to take a break. Just a few minutes after starting the hike again it got really dark very quickly and within 10 minutes it had started pouring down and just a couple minutes after that we were taking lightning strikes very close by. The flash was pretty much timed with the thunder. We were about 3 miles from the car and another 3 to our destination with nothing to do other than keep moving and try to get away from it. Something I'll never forget.

Looking at my temps right now it is 90° at 9:23 p.m.; the AQI has not been good today, but some of you are probably getting it much worse. I haven't been in the sun for a few days and walking out the door today was not fun. Supposed to hit 100° again tomorrow.
❤️

Quite the storm last night and pretty wide spread. Big old trees came down. I am housesitting so no idea of the damage to my property, but did see photos of down trees less than a mile from home. Lots of thunder and lightening. The smaller of the two dogs was pretty scared. It seemed as though the thunder bothered her more than the lightening. She ended up doing her business in the house, in spite of being let out many times yesterday. She was feral when she was younger, and is still fearful.

Thank you. I'll go over some time today. I missed a package yesterday that required a signature here, so I am going to wait until that happens. Also have a zoom bible study, so those two will have to happen before I will even consider it.

We have to endure seven more days of low to mid 70's with night dropping to a comfortable upper 50's. And endless sunshine. Those with gardens will have a bounty. Should be some "World Record" size vegetables at the Alaska State Fair this year. The Blueberry bushes are tipping over they are so laden with massive sweet juicy berries. There are "mountains" covered with blueberries. The fall black bears should be especially delicious.
