Same here. The temp will be close to zero tonight. I'll be up in a couple hours to stoke the fire again.
Probably 18-20° by daybreak here! I'll be back up at 3:30! I'm laughing to myself, @Mountain trapper is like, "we'll have a couple of feet of snow", and Pearl's excited because it's flurrying!! 🤣🤣🤣

It's really not too bad here being only 40 miles away from the Pacific Ocean. Clear skies, 26F by 3 a.m. and around 43F at 2 p.m. and no wind in the day time. The Rocky Mountains a few hundred miles east of us are just high enough they're blocking a lot of the colder temperatures from the Arctic system heading west from the northeast. Pacific Ocean keeps the coastal regions pretty warm, like it's not really uncomfortable outside if you're dressed warmly. But as soon as the sun sets below the horizon in the west it's like getting hit with a hammer, the wind comes up immediately and temperature rapidly plunges to below freezing temps in only 5 to 10 minutes. Wham!!!!

Just chilly here, highs around 30 till Wednesday when it warms back up. (north half of the state)

I'm concerned for the folks south of here. Their homes aren't built for this kind of cold. Mobile might get an inch of snow. Only happened once since 1996. The rest of the coast might get snow also....

"Snow in New Orleans is quite rare, with only 17 measurable snow events recorded since reliable data began in 1852."

@Supervisor42 better break out the long johns!!!! gonna get cold down your way!!!

*Warning, micro-rant:
I watch the local weather forecasts every night. I figure since they 'live down here', they will be the most accurate...
But you can tell they spend all day sitting around saying: "but what if this also happens?"...
And then, "what if this also happens at the same time?"
..."and then this happens too!?"
Our 'snow day' is gonna be Tuesday...
First forecast: 3-5".
Next day: 5-7".
Tonight's forecast: 7-11"

C'mon man, put down the hashpipe!gaah:mad:
I remember our last 'historic snowfall' and I had to race out of the house to get a picture before it evaporated.

Your ground temp should start melting it as soon as it falls... up to a point! If the snow is deep enough it'll drop the surface temp before it all melts. Then you're stuck with it until the air warms up.

I got 3" last weekend, it was gone in 36hrs... but I got strong sun after 24. Maybe you won't have to suffer more than a day.
