Where were you in the "Summer of Love" ?I will defer until later.

Let's see...the "Summer Of Love" was 1967...when an unprecedented gathering of as many as 100,000 young people converged on the Haight-Ashbury neighborhood of San Francisco, California.

I was age 13 in July of that year...and would be going into 8th grade in September of that same year.

.

Was in beautiful Southeast Asia "The Pearl of the Orient" trying not too get my ass shot off. 21 June 67 to 21 June 68
.By some quirk of the stars my birthday is 21 June so I arrived in Vietnam on my birthday and left on the same one year later

Woke up and made scrambled eggs and bacon...home fries and toast...coffee and orange juice for the Wife and I...served on the back deck.

Enjoying my last cup of coffee now...

All is well here in Glen !!

Sitting back with a "Cold One" in my man cave now. My builder buddy and I took down my back deck this morning before it got too hot. Gonna replace it with a material called Trex.

It cost a little more but it's supposed to outlast wood and maintenance free other than a good hosing, every now and then.

Even the best treated wood is temporary garbage.
Not worth the screws to put it together.
Trex is FOREVER!

Heard that about Trex myself...though a bit late for our back deck build a few years back.

.
Keep pouring the expensive waterproofing to it.
It'll still rot from underneath:rolleyes:. The water hangs down there and stuff grows.

Trex only has one problem....
They're still waiting for their first repeat customero_O.

Gonna hang inside for the rest of today. While I do enjoy the hot weather, it's a bit hot to be out in the direct sun right now.

Spent the morning in beautiful Cape May, NJ. Had a late breakfast near the USCG base with a CG buddy of mine. After 20 years in the CG, he's now in the CG-AUX focusing on teaching and training.

It was good to be back in familiar territory again:

Spent a little time this morning with my best friend who brought over a couple of hand made fabricated T-Poles for hanging clothes. That's right folks, this retired Coastie/Law Enforcement Officer, hangs his clothes outside to dry. Ain't nothing like it! They smell fresh and guess what? I don't have an electric bill!

Gonna meet up with him a little later and we'll enjoy a bottle of chilled wine outside on his deck to cap off the weekend.

Cleaned up all the leaves and branches from yesterday's fast moving storm this morning...

This afternoon...just now finished the monthly pay the bills routine...and then cracked open a cold one on the back deck while typing this on my laptop.

Life IS Good !!

Thanks Buddy, you just reminded me...it's the end of the month and I gotta compile my bills to pay list and then pay them!

Gonna get ready to head over to my friends place, drink chilled wine and enjoy the rest of this beautiful evening.

Be safe everyone.

Woke up and got my morning 20 mile mountain bike ride in. In a little while, I'll head out and do some running around just to pick up a few things. Come back, pay a few more bills, have a taste or two, cook then relax for the rest of this gorgeous day. Sounds like a balanced day to me!

Retirement is wonderful!:green man:

YEA IT IS...!!
:lil guy:
We need to get Tazo busted out. I can't believe he's still working.
We need more 'liberated' (retired) guys!
Think about it, if you have a whole bunch of goofing-off to do, how many guys (that don't work) will you need to get it all done?
A lot!
What am I doing today?
Drinking a cheap beer and playing the largest online video game retired people enjoy today called: "Tinkering with the portfolio".
It's like "World of Warcraft" and online gambling rolled into one:cool:.
(Except the 'killings' we make are real and so is the money:D).
