I will be drinking some local PENNA. beer. Wife is letting me off the leash. 🤣
She has an evening out with her daughter. 🙉

I went to pick up some 7up Zero today and they had a new flavor "7up Shirly Temple". But the can said it was 7up mixed with pomegranate and cherry flavoring. What the expletive!? Maybe I am missing something but a shirl temple is 7up, ginger ale, grenadine and cherries. No disgusting pomegranate crap.

Sounds good to me. I'll have to look for some next time we go shopping.

Grenadine was originally made from pomegranate. So, I assume that is where 7up got the idea for pomegranate flavoring.

My wife serves pomegranate as a fruit sometimes at dinners. I'd never had it until marrying her. I think it's pretty good. She cleans out all the pulp, leaving only the juicy seeds thingies...which I just looked up, and are apparently called "arils." Looks like this when served:

I can't drink beer like I used to. Really fills me up and makes me feel bloated. So, come football Saturday, I've been trying out different cocktails.

Last Saturday, it was a Boulevardier. (Tonight I got a bunch of videos about it suggested to me by YouTube, which is what made me think about it again tonight--time to clear out my cookies.)

The Boulevardier is basically a Negroni, but you swap out the gin in favor of bourbon:

  • 1 1/4 oz. bourbon (mine was Maker's Mark)
  • 1 oz. sweet/Italian vermouth
  • 1 oz. Campari (but I used Aperol...it is slightly less bitter...and I didn't have any Campari, so I had to improvise  )
I gotta say, I might have a favorite new cocktail...at least until I find another one! 😁

Not exactly a traditional football watching drink, but boy did those Boulevardiers taste great and go down easy. 🙂

The lady drinks "white negronis" all the time.

According to the recipe card it is 400 Conejos Oaxaca Mezcal, Saler’s Aperitif, and Coconut Fat Washed Dolin Blanc Vermouth. That all sounds too fancy for a drink.

I like Old Fashions.
